Atomic Winter
''Atomic Winter'' is the Swedish heavy metal band Destiny's second studio album. It was released in September 1988 on both vinyl and CD. The album contains a re-recording of the song "Spellbreaker" from the previous album ''Beyond All Sense''. The album cover was painted by Derek Riggs, of Iron Maiden fame. Reception The album plunged into obscurity, despite positive responses from reviewers. "I won't waste space with their history, since I need all the space to praise them", a fanzine reviewer wrote. Paul Miller of '' Kerrang!'' claimed that "Quality of this sort his hard to find" and gave Atomic Winter KKKK½. Domestic reviews were also favourable: "Without doubt one of the most interesting bands" was Tore Lund's verdict on the tabloid '' GT'' , whereas Fia Persson of ''Expressen'' found the album to be "surprisingly fast and good". Destiny (band)
Destiny is a Swedish heavy metal band that was formed in 1980 by Stefan Björnshög (bass) and Magnus Österman (guitar). The band has released seven albums to date. Their debut album ''Beyond All Sense'' was released in 1985 and their latest one, ''Climate Change'', in October 2016. The band categorises its music as "mörk rock", which in English translates to "dark rock". Stefan Björnshög is the only remaining member from the original line-up. History The band's history traces back to 1980 when bassist Stefan Björnshög first met guitarist Magnus Österman. Together they formed the band Hexagon but soon changed its moniker to Destiny. After recording one demo in 1982 with singer Therese Hanseroth (1964–2012), they went through some line-up changes and vocalist Håkan Ring was added to the line-up. Derek Riggs
Derek Riggs (born 13 February 1958) is a contemporary British artist best known for creating the band Iron Maiden's mascot, "Eddie". Career Born in Portsmouth, England, Riggs is a self-taught artist, both in his traditional painting and in his digital work. He began drawing and painting as early as he can remember. He also attended art school, but he was expelled after complaining about the course. Riggs' most famous achievement is his work with Iron Maiden and his creation of Eddie, the band's mascot and subject of their album and single covers. Riggs' first picture of Eddie was originally entitled "Electric Matthew Says Hello," and was actually painted for a possible punk cover. Iron Maiden's management came across it while looking through Riggs' portfolio, and asked him to add hair to the figure to make it look less punk-like. Iron Maiden are an English heavy metal band formed in Leyton, East London, in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. ''Expressen'' (''The Express'') is one of two nationwide evening newspapers in Sweden, the other being '' Aftonbladet''.
