Puerto Cortés
Puerto Cortés, originally known as Puerto de Caballos, is a port city and municipality on the north Caribbean coast of Honduras, right on the Laguna de Alvarado, north of San Pedro Sula and east of Omoa, with a natural bay. The present city was founded in the early colonial period. It grew rapidly in the twentieth century, thanks to the then railroad, and banana production. In terms of volume of traffic the seaport is the largest in Central America and the 36th largest in the world. The city of Puerto Cortés has a population of 73,150 (2023 calculation). History Gil González Dávila founded the city in 1524 and called Villa de la Natividad de Nuestra Señora, now known as Cieneguita. Honduras, officially the Republic of Honduras, is a country in Central America. 1979–80 Honduran Liga Nacional
The 1979–80 Honduran Liga Nacional season was the 14th edition of the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras, Honduran Liga Nacional. The format of the tournament remained the same as the 1978–79 Honduran Liga Nacional, previous season. C.D. Marathón won the title after defeating Pumas UNAH, Universidad in the finals. Both teams qualified to the 1980 CONCACAF Champions' Cup. Additionally, Marathón, Universidad, C.D. Broncos and C.D. Liga de Ascenso (Promotion League) is the Honduran football league system, second division of Honduran association football, football; it was founded on 17 December 1979 as ''Segunda División'' (Second Division) and renamed ''Liga de Ascenso'' (Promotion League) on 21 July 2002. The league is divided into 4 groups: ''Zona Norte y Atlántica'' (North and Atlantic Zone), ''Zona Norte y Occidente'' (North and West Zone), ''Zona Centro y Sur'' (Central and South Zone), ''Zona Sur y Oriente'' (South and East Zone). Erick Anthony Cabalceta Giacchero (born 9 January 1993) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back. Born in Costa Rica, he plays for the El Salvador national team.
