The men's 200 metres at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place on 18–20 August at the Beijing National Stadium. There were 63 competitors from 53 nations. Jamaican Usain Bolt set a new world record of 19.30 seconds in the final, and won by the largest margin of victory (0.66 seconds, after two disqualifications) in an Olympic 200 metres final (previously, Walter Tewksbury had a 0.6 seconds margin of victory in the first Olympic 200 m final in 1900). It was Jamaica's first victory in the event since 1976 and second overall, matching Canada and Italy for second-most (after the United States' 17 wins). The apparent silver and bronze medalists, Churandy Martina of the Netherlands Antilles and Wallace Spearmon of the United States, were both disqualified. The National Stadium (), also known as the Bird's Nest (), is an 80,000-capacity stadium in Beijing. The stadium was jointly designed by architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron from Basel-based architecture team Herzog & de Meuron, project architect Stefan Marbach, artist Ai Weiwei, and CADG, which was led by chief architect Li Xinggang. Khalil Al-Hanahneh
Khalil Hamad Al-Hanahneh (born May 11, 1980) is a Jordanian athlete who specializes in the 100 metres. Al-Hanahneh participated in 2004 Summer Olympics and 2008 Summer Olympics. Al-Hanahneh has also represented his country at the 2003 World Championship (100 metres), 2007 World Championship (200 metres) and 2009 World Championship (200 metres). He won medals in the sprints at the 2007 Pan Arab Games and 2005 West Asian Games and was the bronze medallist over 200 metres at the 2007 Asian Athletics Championships. Adam Harris (athlete)
Adam Harris (born July 21, 1987) is an American sprinter who represented Guyana in the 2008 Summer Olympics, 2009 World Championships, 2013 World Championships and 2014 World Indoor Championships. He competed in the 200 metres event at the 2008 Olympic Games, but without reaching the final round. His personal best time is 20.60 seconds, achieved in July 2013 in Morelia, Mexico. Harris is also the Guyanese National Record Holder in the 100 metres and 60 metres dashes. He has 9.90 seconds (wind-aided)/10.09 seconds (wind-legal) in the 100 metres, and 6.55 seconds in the 60 metres, achieved in February 2014 at the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale on the campus of Grand Valley State University. Marcin Jędrusiński (born 28 September 1981) is a Polish former sprint athlete. Jędrusiński represented Poland at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2004 Olympics in Athens. He competed at the 4x100 metres relay together with Dariusz Kuc, Lukasz Chyla and Marcin Andrzej Nowak. In their qualification heat they did not finish due to a mistake in the baton exchange and they were eliminated. At the individual 200 metres he qualified second in his first round heat behind Shawn Crawford in a time of 20.64 seconds. Michael Duane Johnson (born September 13, 1967) is an American retired sprinter who won four Olympic gold medals and 8 World Championships gold medals in the span of his career. He formerly held the world and Olympic records in the 200 m and 400 m, as well as the world record in the indoor 400 m. He also once held the world's best time in the 300 m.
