Athletics At The African Military Games
The athletics competition at the Africa Military Games was held from 24–26 April 2002 at the Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. A total of twenty-six events were contested, eighteen by men and eight by women. A near full track and field programme was held for men, with all regular track events being held and only the pole vault and hammer throw missing from the field events. The women's programme had limited entries so was mostly track running events, plus the long jump and high jump. No road or combined events were contested. Nebiat Habtemariam Measho (born 29 December 1978) is an Eritrean long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon. She was the first woman to represent Eritrea at the Olympics. Earlier in her career, she ran the 5000 metres and cross-country running. She is a three-time participant at the Summer Olympics. She has a marathon best of 2:32:04 hours set at the 2008 Hamburg Marathon, where she was seventh. IAAF World Cross Country Championships
World Athletics Cross Country Championships is the most important competition in international cross country running. Formerly held annually and organised by World Athletics (formerly the IAAF), it was inaugurated in 1973, when it replaced the International Cross Country Championships. It was an annual competition until 2011, when World Athletics changed it to a biennial event. History Traditionally, the World Cross Country Championships consisted of four races: one each for men (12 km) and for women (8 km); and one each for junior men (8 km) and for junior women (6 km). The Mediterranean Games is a multi-sport event organised by the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (CIJM). The African Championships in Athletics is a continental athletics event organized by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), the continental association for the sport in Africa. Since its inaugural edition in 1979 it was at first organised intermittently with nine editions held in fourteen years until 1993.
