Athletic Genova
Athletic Genova is an Italian basketball club from Genoa. History Athletic was founded in 1968 in the premises of the parish in San Pio X avenue, where there was also the registered office, at the hands of Gino Negro, Elio Fertonani and Don Gianni Tacchino. In 1970 came the transition to competition by acquiring the rights of the then Legislative Genoa, which at the time was involved in the Serie C. The 1974-75 season is the first held in a professional league, following the total reform of the championships. Athletic Genova, license plate Ausonia, is led on the bench by Luciano Bertolassi while the foreign was Wilbur Kirkland. He came the salvation as well as at the end of the second year, but only after the return match in the play-off against Juventus Caserta. Wilbur Kirkland
Wilbur Kirkland also known as Willie Kirkland, (born 1947) is an American former professional basketball player. After a college career at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, Kirkland played in two games for the Pittsburgh Pipers in the American Basketball Association. He was then drafted into the United States Army and, after serving for 18 months in the armed forces, he returned to basketball. Kirkland spent the next eight years playing for teams in Greece, Italy, and Switzerland, retiring from professional basketball in 1978. Wilbur is also the older brother of Thaddeus Kirkland, a Democratic Party (United States), Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. References

The 1977–78 FIBA Korać Cup was the seventh edition of FIBA's new competition, running from 15 November 1977 to 21 April 1978. It was contested by 32 teams, five more than in the previous edition.
