It was built in 2004 as a large-scale convention centre and concert hall, designed to host up to 3,000 people seated. It was owned by the Papatheoharis Group. Artists featured in the Arena are Marinella, Antonis Remos, Sakis Rouvas and Anna Vissi. Since 2005, it was the venue for the Greek preselection final Ellinikós Telikós, for the Eurovision Song Contest. Éric Serra (; born 9 September 1959) is a French composer. He is a frequent collaborator of film director Luc Besson. Early life Serra was born in Saint-Mandé. His father Claude was a famous French songwriter in the 1950s and '60s, and so Éric was thus exposed to music and its production at a young age. His mother died when he was just seven years old. Career In the early 1980s, Éric Serra met director Luc Besson and was asked to score his first film, ''Le Dernier Combat'' (1983). Ellinikós Telikós (; Greek for "Greek Final") is a song contest which took place every year in Athens, Greece until 2017, and decided who would represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest. The contest started in 1979, when Elpida took the title. Over the years, the contest took place in various venues, from TV studios to concert halls. The most famous winners include Helena Paparizou, Kalomira, Sakis Rouvas, Anna Vissi, and Katy Garbi.
