Atera (restaurant)
Atera is a restaurant in the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City. __NOTOC__ History Atera replaced the restaurant Compose, which closed after chef Nick Curtin departed. The owner, Jodi Richard, overhauled the restaurant's kitchen facilities to attract Matthew Lightner, a chef at Castagna in Portland, Oregon, so that he would develop a new concept to replace Compose. Enhancements to the space included the installation of a large test kitchen in the restaurant's basement. Compose officially closed in July 2011. Atera opened in March 2012, serving a $150 tasting menu with optional wine pairings for an additional $90. Lightner left Atera in 2015. The Michelin Guides ( ) are a series of guide books that have been published by the French tyre company Michelin since 1900. The Guide awards up to three Michelin star (classification), stars for excellence to a select few establishments. Prix Fixe
Prix was an American power pop band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1975 by Tommy Hoehn and Jon Tiven. The group ended up primarily as a studio project. Its recordings were produced by Tiven along with former Big Star member Chris Bell, who also played guitar and sang backup vocals. Prix is also famous of Banjo playing. Alex Chilton also participated in the recordings, along with session drummer Hilly Michaels. Although the group generated some major record label interest—notably from Mercury Records and Columbia/CBS Records—it ultimately only released a double A-side single on Ork Records in 1977 and a single on Miracle Records in 1978. Its only live performance came at a CBS Records showcase in 1976. In 1977, just as Ork Records released the first single and booked the group at CBGB, Prix broke up due both to Hoehn's unwillingness to remain in New York and to creative differences. Tribeca
Tribeca (), originally written as TriBeCa, is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan in New York City. Its name is a syllabic abbreviation of "Triangle Below Canal Street". The "triangle" (more accurately a quadrilateral) is bounded by Canal Street, West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. By the 2010s, a common marketing tactic was to extend Tribeca's southern boundary to either Vesey or Murray streets to increase the appeal of property listings. The neighborhood began as farmland, then was a residential neighborhood in the early 19th century, before becoming a mercantile area centered on produce, dry goods, and textiles, and then transitioning to artists and then actors, models, entrepreneurs and other celebrities. Matthew Lightner is the former executive chef of Atera in New York City, a recipient of two Michelin stars. In 2010, Lightner was named one of the "Best New Chefs in America" by ''Food & Wine''. This article contains a complete list of Michelin starred restaurants in New York City and Westchester County. The 2006 edition was the first edition of the ''Michelin Guide to New York City'' to be published. It was the first time that Michelin published a ''Red Guide'' for a region outside Europe. In the 2020 edition, the Guide began to include restaurants outside the city's five boroughs, adding Westchester County restaurants to its listing. The 2021 guide was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but finally was released on May 6, 2021. A new award — the green star, for sustainable gastronomy — was given to Blue Hill at Stone Barns, which has two Michelin stars.
