Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan
Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan is a Lieutenant general of Bangladesh Army and Chief of General Staff (CGS) of Bangladesh Army. He is the former Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professionals. Early life Ataul Hakim Sarwar was born on 1 January 1966 in Old Dhaka. He received his commission in the infantry corp in 1984. He graduated from Defence Services Command and Staff College and Brazilian Army Command and General Staff College. Career Hasan commanded an Infantry Battalion and two Infantry Brigades. He was the first General Commanding officer of the 10th Infantry Division. In 2017, he was the chief patron of Bangladesh International School and College. He also served as the logistics area commander. Old Dhaka
Old Dhaka ( bn, পুরান ঢাকা, Puran Dhaka) is a term used to refer to the historic old city of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. It was founded in 1608 as Jahangirabad or Jahangirnagar ( bn, জাহাঙ্গীরনগর, Jahangirnogor, City of Jahangir), the capital of Mughal Province of Bengal and named after the Mughal emperor Jahangir. The 10th Infantry Division ( bn, ১০ম পদাতিক ডিভিশন) is a formation of the Bangladesh Army and one of the three divisions of Chittagong Division. Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general. In modern armies, lieutenant general normally ranks immediately below general and above major general; it is equivalent to the navy rank of vice admiral, and in air forces with a separate rank structure, it is equivalent to air marshal.
