Atal Jaler Ahwan
''Atal Jaler Ahwan'' is a Bengali drama film directed by Ajoy Kar based on a story of Protiva Bose. This film was released in 1962 in the banner of R. D. Bansal And Company. Hemanata Mukherjee was the Music director of the film. Plot Sreemonto Choudhury is a successful businessman but is a lonely person living with his only son Jayanta who has just returned from abroad with a degree in engineering. Sreemonto is the victim of orthodox Hindu Bengali custom prevalent in pre-independence Bengal. He has been cast out of the society because he choose the path of Brahmo Dharma. Even his wife left him with the baby Jayanta. His only solace was Anuradha, his only friend and sympathiser. But their budding love could not reach to the marriage as unbeknownst to him, his wife persuaded Anuradha to take an oath of not going any further in this relationship. Ajoy Kar
Ajoy Kar (Bengali:অজয় কর; 27 March 1914 – 25 January 1985) was an Indian film director and cinematographer . He directed 26 films between 1949 and 1983. His 1961 film ''Saptapadi'' was entered into the 3rd Moscow International Film Festival. Ajoy Kar provided a whole new expression to Bengali cinema. His 1971 film ''Malyadan'' won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali. Early life Ajoy Kar was born on 27 March 1914, in Calcutta, British India. He left college in 1931 to become a professional photographer, and took up cinematography a few years later. Career After initially working as an assistant to Jatin Das, Kar became a cinematographer at Indrapuri Studios, Calcutta, in 1938. Over the next four decades, he shot more than 80 feature films. Jahar Roy (19 September 1919 – 1 August 1977) was an Indian actor and comedian in Bengali cinema. He was known for his comedy films with Bhanu Bandyopadhyay. Early life Roy came from a Bengali Baidya family having its root in Mahilara, Barisal District (of the present Bangladesh). His father Satya Roy was also an actor and later moved to Patna, in search of livelihood. It is here where Jahar Roy completed his studies and started working on odd jobs such as proof reader, medical representative and finally a tailor. He left all these and came to Calcutta around 1946.
