Aston Park is a public park located in downtown Dallas, Texas, United States. The park is located on a triangle of land located between Pacific, Harwood and Live Oak in the City Center District. History The park was dedicated in 1983 in honor of James W. Aston, who was a prominent business leader and president of Republic National Bank in 1957. Adjacent to Republic Center, Corrigan Tower and Pacific Place, the park consists of a grove of mature trees and plaza area. As currently designed it receives little use because of its isolation from downtown activity centers. The City Center District is an area in north-central downtown Dallas, Texas ( USA). It lies south of the Arts District, north of the Main Street District, northwest of Deep Ellum, southwest of Bryan Place and east of the West End Historic District. The district contains a large concentration of downtown commercial space which prior to 1950 had been concentrated along Main Street. Corrigan Tower
Corrigan Tower, also known as 1900 Pacific or 1900 Pacific Residences, is a high rise located at 1900 Pacific Avenue in the City Center District of Dallas, Texas. The building contains 20 floors, now made up of apartments but originally office space, and is of modernist design. It is situated on the high-traffic corner of St. Paul Street and Pacific Avenue, across from Aston Park and the future Pacific Plaza Park. It lies within the Harwood Historic District, but is not a contributing structure. History The site was previously the location of small commercial structures and the 1,500 seat Tower Theater, which was located at the rear of and accessed through the Tower Petroleum Building.
