Association Of Top Achiever Scouts
The Association of Top Achiever Scouts (ATAS) is a worldwide Scouting fellowship group, of Scouts and Scouters who have achieved the highest rank as a youth in their Scout associations such as King's Scout, Queen's Scout, President's Scout, Fuji Scout, Eagle Scout, etc. Developed and formed during the 21st Asia-Pacific Region Scout Conference in Brunei on 10 December 2004 by Simon Hang-bock Rhee of Korea, Eric Khoo Heng-Pheng of Malaysia, and Alexander Wong of Hong Kong, the association has spread to the other regions of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. Simon Hang-bock Rhee
Simon Hang-bock Rhee (; born October 28, 1954) of South Korea, is the former Chairman of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, and Chairman of its Management Subcommittee. He was first elected as a member and Vice-Chairman of the Committee in Seoul, Korea in 2008, and elected as Chairman at the 39th World Scout Conference in Brazil in 2011 for a three-year term. Eric Khoo Heng-Pheng
Eric Khoo Heng-Pheng (; 17 April 195613 January 2014) was one of 12 elected volunteer members of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, and Chairman of its Asia Pacific Regional Scout Committee, elected in 2001. He was elected at the 38th World Scout Conference in South Korea for a six-year term. Early life Khoo was from Tengkera, Malacca, Malaysia. He was a company director in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, and consultant for public relations and marketing. His business activities involved logistics, engineering, warehouse and property development. He was a member of the Royal Commonwealth Society and the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Scouting Khoo joined Scouting in 1965 at the age of nine as a Cub Scout and earned his King's Scout award in 1973. Alexander Wong
Alexander Wong Kin Ming (; born 1951?) of Hong Kong served as the Assistant Chief Commissioner (since 1997) and the International Commissioner of the Scout Association of Hong Kong (from May 1997 to December 2001), as well as the Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Governance Review Task Force. Wong joined Scouting as a boy in 1961. He was warranted as Scoutmaster after becoming a Queen's Scout in 1968. He had his first Headquarters appointment as Project Officer (Headquarters Commissioner) in 1970. World Organization Of The Scout Movement
The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM ) is the largest international Scouting organization. WOSM has 173 members. These members are recognized national Scout organizations, which collectively have around 43 million participants. WOSM was established in 1922, and has its operational headquarters at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and its legal seat in Geneva, Switzerland. It is the counterpart of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). The WOSM's current stated mission is "to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Scout Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society". Scouter
A Scout leader or Scouter generally refers to the trained adult leader of a Scout unit. The terms used vary from country to country, over time, and with the type of unit. Roles There are many different roles a leader can fulfill depending on the type of unit. Positions are usually voluntary and are often divided between 'uniform' and 'lay' roles. For many, this volunteerism is an avocation. Uniformed Scout Leaders are primarily responsible for organizing the activities of the group, and training the youth members through the Scout program. Other roles include liaison with parents, districts, or other parties such as the unit's sponsoring (chartered) organization. Lay supporters are not always termed Scout Leaders; although they may assist with activities and training, they do not always hold a formal position and may not have received training. King's Scout
A King's Scout is a Scout who has attained the King's Scout Award. The King's Scout Award is the highest youth award achievable in the Scouting movement in the Commonwealth realms, including the United Kingdom, Canada (Queen's Venturer Award), Australia, and New Zealand (Queen's Scout Kauri Award), where Scouts operate under the patronage of King Charles III. Whether the award recipient is a Queen's or King's Scout depends on who is the current monarch of the Commonwealth realms. Initially the award required demonstrated proficiency in standardised Scoutcraft and skills useful for service to others and the nation. The current requirements are different in each country and now focus on personal development and typically involve achieving challenges from several areas such as community involvement, adventurous activities, personal growth and leadership development.
