Assam Rifles Sports Club is a football section which represents Assam Rifles, one of the paramilitary forces of India. The team regularly participates in the prestigious Durand Cup, Bordoloi Trophy and various other regional football tournaments. Assam Rifles
The Assam Rifles (AR) is a central paramilitary force responsible for border security, counter-insurgency, and maintaining law and order in Northeast India. It guards the Indo-Myanmar border. The Assam rifles is the oldest paramilitary force of India and Its comes under the administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, while its operational control is maintained by the Indian Army. Being a police force, its recruitment, perks, promotions, and retirement policies are governed by CAPF rules. Around 80 percent of its officers are deputed from the Indian Army and remaining from AR cadre. The AR is commanded by the Director General of the Assam Rifles (DG AR) who is appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Bordoloi Trophy
The Bordoloi Trophy, also known as the Bharat Ratna Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Trophy, is a premier annual Indian football tournament held in Guwahati and organized by Guwahati Sports Association (GSA). The tournament was first started in 1952 and is named after Assam's first chief minister Gopinath Bordoloi. Apart from some top clubs from India, clubs from Nepal, Bangladesh and Thailand have also participated in this championship. Abahani Limited of Bangladesh lifted the 2010 trophy. Mohun Bagan AC of Kolkata has won the tournament for record seven times. Guwahati Sports Association had announced that the 68th edition of the Bordoloi Trophy football tournament was going to be held from March 24, 2022. Assam State Premier League
Assam State Premier League (ASPL) is the state-level top division football league in the Indian state of Assam, organised by the Assam Football Association and the Guwahati Sports Association. The inaugural edition of the league started in 2008 with Assam Rifles SC winning its first title. Competition structure The winner of Assam State Premier League gets promoted to I-League 2, and the last position team gets relegated to the Assam Club Championship. From 2015 season the league has been revamped with the new format. The teams have been divided into two zones - Upper Assam and Lower Assam. Churachand Singh Trophy, also known as the Churachand Singh Invitation Trophy (Sir Churachand Singh Memorial Football Tournament), is an annual Indian football tournament held in Manipur and organized by All Manipur Football Association (A.M.F.A).
