Asociación Feminista Filipina
The Asociación Feminista Filipina (Philippine Feminist Association) or AFF was a Filipino women's organization, founded in 1905. It was the first women's organization in the Philippines. The objective of the organization was the betterment of women's well-being regardless of class. The association worked for women's political equality in municipal- and provincial level electorates and committees. It was also active within social welfare and improvement in the conditions of prisons, schools and work force. History AFF was founded in Manila, Philippines on 30 June 1905 by its first president, Concepción Felix Rodriguez, Concepcion Felix Rodriguez, a working class woman. Trinidad Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda (June 6, 1868 – May 9, 1951), commonly known as Trinidad Rizal, was a Filipina feminist leader and co-founder of the Philippines' first feminist organization, the ''Asociación Femenista Filipina''. She was the tenth sibling of the national hero, physician and writer, Dr. José Rizal. Librada Avelino
Librada Avelino (January 17, 1873 – November 9, 1934) was a Filipinos, Filipina educator who co-founded the Centro Escolar University. She was the first woman to earn a teaching certificate from the Spanish authorities when she passed her examination in 1889. Continuing her education, Avelino was also certified as a secondary teacher in 1893. After establishing her own girls' school in Pandacan, she was forced to flee to Manila when in 1896, the Philippine Revolution brought troops to Pandacan. Reopening a school in the capital, she operated until the Treaty of Paris (1898), Spain ceded the country to the United States and the educational authorities changed the requirements, implementing English language curricula. To learn English, she agreed to take a post as principal of the Pandacan Girls' School, believing that teaching the language would help her learn it faster. Rizal Avenue, also known as J. Rizal Avenue, Avenida Rizal or simply Avenida, is one of Manila's main thoroughfares, running with two to six lanes from its Santa Cruz, Manila, Santa Cruz and Quiapo, Manila, Quiapo districts to the Bonifacio Monument (Monumento) Circle in Caloocan. Gota de Leche (lit. A Drop of Milk) is a foundation started by Trinidad Rizal (sister of Philippine National Hero, Dr. José Rizal) and Concepción Felix in 1906 that primarily aims to provide nutritional and medical needs of indigent Filipino mothers and their children.
