Asil Nadir (born 1 May 1941) is a British Turkish Cypriot businessman, who was chief executive of Polly Peck, which he took over as a small textile company, growing it during the 1980s to become one of the United Kingdom's top 100 FTSE-listed companies, with interests in consumer electronics, fruit distribution and packaging. In 1990, Polly Peck collapsed following an investigation by the Serious Fraud Office and charges were brought against Asil Nadir on 70 counts of false accounting and theft, which he denied. From 1993 until 2010 Nadir lived in northern Cyprus, having fled there to escape a trial in the UK. He remained a fugitive from British justice until 26 August 2010, when he returned to London to face trial. His trial commenced at the Old Bailey on 3 September 2010, on 13 specimen charges of false accounting and theft totalling £34m. Aseel Omran ( ar, أسيل عمران) is a Saudi Arabian singer who rose to fame when she entered the reality show ''Gulf Stars'' and ''Heya wa Huwa''. She has signed onto Rotana, the Arab world's largest record label. Aseel Omran was born on November 12, 1982, in Khobar. Her family is from Qatif and moved to Muscat because her father was working in the military. She is the sister of media presenter Lojain Omran. She entered the reality TV show ''Gulf Stars'' to spark her rise to stardom. Later on, she married the Bahraini television broadcaster Khaled Al-Shaer. Aseel Al-Awadhi
Aseel al-Awadhi (born 1969) is a former member of the National Assembly of Kuwait. She was a professor of philosophy at Kuwait University before moving into politics. Al-Awadhi first stood for a seat on the National Assembly in 2008, losing the election but gaining the highest number of votes for a female candidate since women were allowed to stand. She was elected representative of Kuwait's Third District in 2009; a post that she held until 2012.
