Ashes To Ashes (Chelsea Grin Album)
''Ashes to Ashes'' is the third studio album by American deathcore band Chelsea Grin released on July 8, 2014 via Artery and Razor & Tie. It is also the debut of drummer Pablo Viveros. The album also saw the debut of Viveros' co-vocals, allowing lead vocalist Alex Koehler to focus solely on high ranged screams while Viveros took on the mid to low ranged vocals. Style AllMusic described the sound of the album as deathcore and on some songs metalcore relating it to that of their previous two studio albums. Release '' Ashes to Ashes'' was released on July 8, 2014 by Artery Recordings. Reception AllMusic gave the album three and a half stars out of five, noting that "Chelsea Grin marry their punishing breakdowns with some pretty dazzling guitar work, showing that there's more to their sound than just smashing the listener into oblivion." Chelsea Grin
Chelsea Grin is an American deathcore band from Salt Lake City, Utah. Formed in 2007, the group have released two EPs and five full-length albums. Since 2018, no original members remain in the band. Chelsea Grin was originally founded under the name ''Ahaziah''. The lineup for Ahaziah included vocalist Alex Koehler, guitarist Chris Kilbourn, bassist Austin Marticorena and lead guitarist Michael Stafford. Marticorena introduced Andrew Carlston to Chelsea Grin and assisted in rewriting their songs as well as the creation of new material as they changed the name to Chelsea Grin soon after. This writing process lead to the tracks on their first release, a self-titled EP that was streamed and released online through iTunes, then released on CD worldwide on July 27, 2008. Jason Richardson (born July 30, 1991) is an American guitarist. He is best known for his work as a guitarist in both Born of Osiris and Chelsea Grin. His playing style is extremely fast and technical. He currently works as both a solo artist and as an official member of All That Remains. He is also a sponsored artist of Ernie Ball Music Man. On February 5, 2009, age 17, Richardson replaced Chris Storey of All Shall Perish as a touring member. In early 2010, Richardson left All Shall Perish and was asked to join Born of Osiris as a full-time guitarist. In late 2011, Richardson parted ways with Born of Osiris. Then, in early 2012, he joined Chelsea Grin. On September 21, 2015, Richardson chose to leave Chelsea Grin and form his own solo project. ''Self Inflicted'' is the fourth studio album by American deathcore band Chelsea Grin. The album debuted at number 105 on the Billboard 200. This is the band's last album to feature vocalist Alex Koehler and guitarists Jake Harmond and Dan Jones before their departures in 2017 and 2018. Style Allmusic noted that album contains almost no death metal elements that were present on the band's previous releases, noting that the album is a metalcore release. This album has also been described as djent, and that it uses djent playing styles. Release ''Self inflicted'' was released on July 1, 2016 by Rise Records.
