Animesh Debbarma
Animesh Debbarma is an Indian politician and the leader of the Tipra Motha Party. Currently he is the Leader of the Opposition of Tripura Legislative Assembly. He served as Deputy Chief Executive Member of TTAADC but resigned when he won the 2023 Tripura Legislative Assembly election and became a member of the 13th Tripura Assembly. Early life Animesh Debbarma was born in Rajnagar Village of Khowai District of Tripura. Debbarma graduated with B.Tech in Computer Science and engineering from NERIST, Arunachal Pradesh. He has worked as an engineer in Indian Oil, Mumbai for many years and CSIRO, Nagpur as a scientist for few years. He left his corporate job at the Indian Oil to join mainstream politics and became a member of the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) in and around early 2000. Mevar Kumar Jamatia
Mevar Kumar Jamatia (born 5 June 1968), is a Tiprasa Indian Politician from Tripura. He is the former Minister of Tribal Welfare, Industries and Commerce, and Forest in Biplab Kumar Deb ministry. He became the MLA from Asharambari Constituency by defeating CPI(M) candidate Aghore Debbarma by a margin of 6,987 votes. Early life and education Jamatia joined NEHU, Meghlaya for his B.A. studies. He completed his Masters in sociology from NEHU in 1995. He was an active leader of the Twipra Students' Federation (TSF) becoming the General Secretary later. Political career In 2018, Mevar Kumar Jamatia took oath as the cabinet minister for Tribal Welfare, Industries & Commerce, and Forestries in the Biplab Deb Ministry. 2018 Tripura Legislative Assembly Election
The 2018 Tripura Legislative Assembly election was held on 18 February for 59 of the state's 60 constituencies. The counting of votes took place on 3 March 2018. With 43.59% of the vote, the BJP secured a majority of seats (36) and subsequently formed the government with Biplab Kumar Deb as Chief Minister. The former governing Left Front alliance while receiving 44.35% of the vote secured only 16 seats. Background The term of the Tripura Legislative Assembly ended on 6 March 2018. Aghore Debbarma is an Indian politician and a former Agriculture minister of the Tripura state. As a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), he represented Asharambari Vidhan Sabha constituency of Khowai district. He served as a minister of Tripura for Agriculture, Tribal Welfare, Animal resources. He is also a central committee member of CPI-M and Leader of GMP, the tribal wing of CPI-M. In 2018, he lost the Legislative Assembly election to Mevar Kumar Jamatiya of Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT).
