Asen Peak
Asen Peak ( bg, Аксенов връх, Asenov vrah, ) is a peak in eastern Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The peak rises to 810 m in the Delchev Ridge of the Tangra Mountains. The peak overlooks Iskar Glacier and Bruix Cove to the northwest, Ropotamo Glacier to the east-southeast and Dobrudzha Glacier to the south. The peak was named after Tsar Ivan Asen I of Bulgaria, 1190-1196 AD. Location The peak is located at , which is 770 m south-southwest of Delchev Peak, 860 m east of Ruse Peak and 870 m north-northwest of St. Evtimiy Crag. Dobrudzha Glacier
Dobrudzha Glacier ( bg, ледник Добруджа, lednik Dobrudzha, ) is situated on the southeast side of Tangra Mountains, Burgas Peninsula, eastern Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, northeast of Magura Glacier, southeast of Iskar Glacier and southwest of Ropotamo Glacier. It is bounded by Ruse Peak and Asen Peak to the north and by Kuber Peak to the west and flows southeastward into Bransfield Strait. Antarctic Place-names Commission
The Antarctic Place-names Commission was established by the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute in 1994, and since 2001 has been a body affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria. The Commission approves Bulgarian place names in Antarctica, which are formally given by the President of the Republic according to the Bulgarian Constitution (Art. 98) and the established international practice. Bulgarian toponyms in Antarctica are approved by the Antarctic Place-names Commission in compliance with its ''Toponymic Guidelines'', and formally given by the President of the Republic according to the Bulgarian Constitution and the established international and Bulgarian practice. Place naming is confined to nameless geographic features situated in the Antarctic Treaty area, the region south of the parallel 60 degrees south latitude. Ruse Peak
Ruse Peak ( bg, връх Русе, vrah Ruse, ) is a peak rising to over 800 m in the west part of Delchev Ridge in Tangra Mountains on Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The peak surmounts Iskar Glacier and Bruix Cove to the north, and Dobrudzha Glacier to the south. The peak is named after the Bulgarian city of Ruse, Bulgaria, Ruse, also spelt ''Rousse'' in the past. Delchev Peak
Delchev Peak ( bg, Делчев връх, Delchev vrah, ) is the summit of Delchev Ridge, Tangra Mountains, Livingston Island and rises to approximately 940 m. The peak surmounts Iskar Glacier to the west, Sopot Ice Piedmont to the north, and Ropotamo Glacier to the south. The peak is "named after Gotse Delchev (1872–1903), leader of the Bulgarian liberation movement in Macedonia". Ivan Asen I Of Bulgaria
Ivan Asen I, also known as Asen I or John Asen I ( bg, Иван Асен I; died in 1196), was emperor or tsar of Bulgaria from 1187/1188 to 1196 as co-ruler with his elder brother, Peter II. Hailing from the Byzantine theme of Paristrion, his exact place and date of birth are unknown. Although most contemporaneous chronicles describe Asen and his brothers, Theodor (Peter) and Kaloyan, as Vlachs, they were probably of mixed Vlach, Bulgarian, and Cuman ancestry. In 1185, Asen and Theodor went to see the Byzantine Emperor Isaac II Angelos in Thrace to demand an estate in the Balkan Mountains. After the Emperor refused and humiliated them, the brothers persuaded their Bulgarian and Vlach compatriots to rise up against the Byzantine Empire. Before the end of the year, Theodor was crowned Emperor of Bulgaria, taking the name Peter. Ropotamo Glacier ( bg, ледник Ропотамо, lednik Ropotamo, ) is a glacier extending from northeast to southwest and from northwest to southeast on the Burgas Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The glacier is northeast of Dobrudzha Glacier, east-southeast of Iskar Glacier, south of Sopot Ice Piedmont and southwest of Strandzha Glacier. Bruix Cove is the 1.93 km wide cove indenting for 1.75 km the south coast of Moon Bay in eastern Livingston Island, the South Shetland Islands in Antarctica. Entered between Yana Point and Rila Point. Most of the cove's coastline is formed by the terminus of Iskar Glacier.
