As The Poets Affirm
...As the Poets Affirm was a Canadian independent rock band formed in 2001 in Ottawa, Ontario. The band began as a three-piece acoustic project, and later evolved into a seven-member line-up experimenting with jazz, classical and electronica. Its name is taken from a line in '' Dante's Inferno''. The original members were – Gary Udle (guitar, vocals), Nathan Gara (drums), Ryan Patterson (guitar, Pocket trumpet, vocals), Adam Saikaley (Moog synthesizer, organ, vocals), bassist and singer Alex Cairncross and cellist Cindy Olberg. They were occasionally joined by violinist Renée Leduc, bassist Ryan Griffin, keyboardist, cellist and singer Kina De Grasse Forney, and on guitar, keyboards and trumpet, Ben Belanger. Videotape is a three-piece pop music project of Canadians Adam Saikaley, Nathan Gara and Ryan Patterson, based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. History Videotape was formed in Ottawa by three former members of As The Poets Affirm, after that band broke up in late 2007. Videotape was listed on The Village Voice's Pazz & Jop 2008 charts. Their debut album, ''My Favourite Thing'', was independently released in 2008, and appeared on the Canadian campus charts. It was later available for download. Ottawa Bluesfest
Ottawa Bluesfest is an annual outdoor music festival that takes place each July in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. While the festival's lineup historically focused on blues music at its inception, it has increasingly showcased mainstream pop, hip hop, reggae, and rock acts in recent years. Bluesfest has become the largest music festival in Canada and the second largest blues festival in North America. Capital Idea! was a nine-day music festival in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, organized by music blogger and concert promoter Calum Marsh. The festival took place from 21 to 30 June 2007, and featured high-profile indie acts. Despite a great deal of media attention in television, print and internet outlets, the festival failed to attract a large number of attendees. Grizzly Bear is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002. Rock Plaza Central is a band from Toronto, Canada. They came to international attention in 2007 with the release of ''Are We Not Horses'', a critically acclaimed science fiction concept album about six-legged robotic horses in the midst of an existential crisis. Destroyer (band)
Destroyer is a Canadian indie rock band from Vancouver, formed in 1995. The band is fronted by founding member Dan Bejar, with a collective of regular band members and collaborators joining him in the studio and during live performances.
