Arvo Sainio
Arvo Rober Sainio (30 July 1921, in Lokalahti – 23 October 1984) was an officer in the Finnish Defence Forces, a farmer and a politician. He was a member of the Parliament of Finland, representing the Finnish Rural Party (SMP) from 1972 to 1973 and the Finnish People's Unity Party (SKYP) from 1973 to 1975. He served in the Finnish Army as an officer during World War II and for a couple of years after the war before he retired from the Army and took up farming. ARVØ (born 1992 in Breitenbrunn, Saxony, Erlabrunn as Raphael Schmiedel) is a German musician and producer. Personal life In the age of 10 ARVØ discovered his interest in electronic music and started producing own songs. Subsequently he worked as a DJ in the region Zwickau. Later in September 2017 resident in Tallinn ARVØ met with the composer Arvo Pärt. The first music was published in December 2018. The song "Northward Bound" was released on the compilation ''Tour de Traum XVI'' by the Cologne based label Traum Schallplatten. ARVØ was put together with artists like Dominik Eulberg, Max Cooper (electronica musician), Max Cooper or Ryan Davis (musician), Ryan Davis. Arvo Ylppö
Arvo Henrik Ylppö (27 October 1887 – 28 January 1992) was a Finnish physician and professor of pediatrics who significantly decreased Finnish infant mortality during the 20th century. He is credited as the father of Finland's public maternity and child health clinic system established in 1922 ( fi, neuvola), which focuses on monitoring the health and development of newborn and pre-school children and their families, providing parents with childcare guidance and supporting child-parent interaction. For forty years, Ylppö held the title of archiater (''arkkiatri''), the highest honorary title awarded to a physician. Internationally, he was known for his research on premature infants. Ylppö was born in 1887 in Akaa, Finland into a farming family. He was apparently born premature and remained small in stature through his life. Arvo Volmer (born November 4, 1962 in Tallinn) is an Estonian conductor. Volmer was principal conductor of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra from 1993 to 2001. From 2004 to 2013 he was Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and in 2014 was appointed Principal Guest Conductor and Artistic Advisor. The ''Adelaide Review'' wrote that Volmer's tenure as Chief Conductor saw the orchestra "improve out of all proportion and enter an unprecedented period of ascendancy". From 2004 to 2012, Volmer combined his Adelaide duties with the posts of music director and principal conductor of the Estonian National Opera in Tallinn. He has also been guest conductor of many orchestras, especially in Scandinavia. Arvo Albert Viitanen (12 April 1924 – 28 April 1999) was a Finnish cross-country skier who competed in the 1950s. He won a silver medal in the 4 × 10 km relay at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo. He was born in Uurainen, Central Finland and died in Myllykoski. Viitanen also won five medals in the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with a gold in the 4 × 10 km relay (1954), a silver in the 15 km (1954), and bronzes in the 50 km (1954, 1958) and the 4 × 10 km relay (1958). Arvo Vallikivi (born 14 December 1935 in Märjamaa), commonly known under the pen name of Arvo Valton, is an Estonian writer known for a number of books and, among other things, the script for Viimne reliikvia, the highly successful movie adaptation of Eduard Bornhöhe's Vürst Gabriel ehk Pirita kloostri viimsed päevad. In October 1980, Valton was a signatory of the Letter of 40 Intellectuals, a public letter in which forty prominent Estonian intellectuals defended the Estonian language and protested the Russification policies of the Kremlin in Estonia. Arvo “Poika” Tuominen (5 September 1894 – 27 May 1981) was a Finnish communist revolutionary and later a social democratic journalist, politician and author. Tuominen was given his nickname, "Poika", in 1920 because of his boyish look; ''poika'' means "boy" in Finnish. Tuominen was born in 1894 in Kuotila (part of Hämeenkyrö) to the family of a rural carpenter. In 1912 he moved to Tampere to become a carpenter's apprentice and soon joined the Social Democratic Party of Finland. During the Finnish Civil War in early 1918, Tuominen sided with the Finnish Red Guards and edited ''Kansan lehti'', a radical social democratic newspaper in Tampere. Arvo Sarapuu
Arvo Sarapuu (August 26, 1953 – March 17, 2020) was an Estonian businessman, politician, and member of the Estonian Centre Party. Sarapuu served as the first post-independence County Governor of Järva County from 1989 until 1997. He then served as the Deputy Mayor of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, from April 2011 until his resignation on May 26, 2017, due to allegations of corruption. Arvo Sarapuu died on March 17, 2020, at the age of 66. He was survived by his wife, Kersti Sarapuu, who served as Mayor of Paide from 2005 to 2011, and their five children. Sarapuu was buried in Metsakalmistu cemetery in Tallinn.
