Arturs Alberings
Arturs Alberings (8 January 1876 – 26 April 1934) was the 6th Prime Minister of Latvia. He held office from 7 May 1926 to 18 December 1926. Personal life Alberings was born on 8 January 1876 to a family of farmers in Rūjiena, Kreis Wolmar, in the Governorate of Livonia. His father was Virķēni "Klāvās. After graduating from Vilkene Primary School and Kharkiv Agricultural High School, he studied agronomy in Norway, and also improved his knowledge of fish farming in Germany. In Russia, he worked as the director of the School of Agriculture and Fish Farming, as well as the manager of manors. After returning to Latvia, he started leading courses at the Riga Central Agricultural Association, and he founded and managed animal monitoring associations in the Rūjiena and Valmiera areas. Artūrs Silagailis
Artūrs Silagailis (born 3 May 1987) is a retired Latvian football defender. Currently he works as a youth coach at his hometown club Blāzma. Club career Silagailis began his career in the local club Dižvanagi Rēzekne (later renamed SK Blāzma). In February 2009 he signed a contract with FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih. He made his first-team debut in a league match against the famous FC Shakhtar Donetsk. He found it difficult to find a place in the starting line-up, so he left the team on loan to FK Ventspils in March 2010. In August 2010 he signed a contract with KF Tirana in Albanian Superliga. Artūrs Zakreševskis (born 7 August 1971, in Riga) is a former football defender from Latvia and is currently the assistant of Latvia U-15 team. Artūrs Vaičulis
Artūrs Vaičulis (born 26 February 1990) is a retired Latvian footballer. Club career Artūrs Vaičulis was born in Riga and as a kid he started playing football at his local youth club FK Auda. Soon after he transferred to Skonto Rīga academy, making a remarkable progress. In his last season with Skonto Vaičulis also trained with the first team but did not make any first team appearances and as a youngster was neither assigned to the first team squad. Artūrs Strēlnieks (born 31 July 1985) is a Latvian professional basketball player, who plays the shooting guard position. He's currently playing for BK Jūrmala/Fēnikss. Professional career After bouncing around couple of semi-pro teams, Artūrs Strēlnieks started his pro career at age 24 when he was signed by BK Ventspils in September 2009. Artūrs Štālbergs (born October 15, 1984) is a Latvian professional basketball coach for BK Liepājas Lauvas. He is also a former player. Playing career Štālbergs started basketball career in his hometown Liepāja. In 2003, he moved to USA where he played college basketball. Štālbergs finished his collegiate career in 2007 at University of Evansville. In 2007, he returned to Europe and joined Liepājas Lauvas where he played for two years. Arturs Sproģis (6 March 1904 – 2 October 1980; russian: Артур Карлович Спрогис) was a Latvian colonel and commander of the Soviet partisans during the occupation of Latvia by Nazi Germany in World War II. Early life and career Sproģis was born in Riga in 1904 in to a working-class family. In 1919 he voluntarily joined the Latvian Red Riflemen at the age of 15 in defence of the short-lived Latvian Socialist Soviet Republic. At the same time he also joined the Komsomol. In 1920, he was sent to Komosomol courses in Moscow, after which he continued his military service in the Red Army fighting against the White forces of General Wrangel.
