Artūrs Strēlnieks
Artūrs Strēlnieks (born 31 July 1985) is a Latvian professional basketball player, who plays the shooting guard position. He's currently playing for BK Jūrmala/Fēnikss. Professional career After bouncing around couple of semi-pro teams, Artūrs Strēlnieks started his pro career at age 24 when he was signed by BK Ventspils in September 2009. He played next three years for Ventspils establishing himself as a solid player that excels on defensive end. In July 2012, Artūrs moved to VEF Rīga. In April 2014, he was signed to a three-year extension. On 19 July 2016 he signed with the Latvian team Jūrmala/Fēnikss. Since 2023 Artūrs represents Rīgas Zeļļi. Riga District ( lv, Rīgas rajons) was an administrative division of Latvia, located in Semigallia and Vidzeme regions, in the centre of the country. The district had the two cities of Riga and Jūrmala with the Gulf of Riga to the north. Jānis Strēlnieks
Jānis Strēlnieks (born 1 September 1989) is a Latvian professional basketball player for AEK Athens of the Greek Basket League and the Basketball Champions League. He also represents the senior Latvia national team. Standing at tall, he mainly plays at the shooting guard position. Professional career Strēlnieks started his professional career in 2007, with Latvian team Ventspils, where he played for four years. In 2010, he was pursued by the EuroLeague club Union Olimpija, which was then head coached by Jure Zdovc. However, Ventspils didn't let him go to Slovenia. After all, in November 2011, he finally got a chance to play for coach Zdovc, as he was at the time coaching the Russian team BC Spartak Saint Petersburg, Spartak Saint Petersburg, that had bought out Strēlnieks' contract from Ventspils. Latvian-Estonian Basketball League
The Latvian-Estonian Basketball League is the highest professional men's club basketball league in Latvia and Estonia; it has been organised since 2018, run by the Latvian Basketball Association and the Estonian Basketball Association. History The league was established in 2018 when the Latvijas Basketbola līga (LBL) and Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML) merged. In its inaugural season, 15 teams participated in the league.
