Artogne Chiesa2
Artogne (''Artògne'' in camunian dialect) is an Italian comune in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy (Italy). Artogne lies on the left side of Oglio river, between the towns of Gianico, Pian Camuno and Rogno. History In 1233 Artogne became property of the Brusati family. In 1331 Zanone called "Mastaio" and Ziliolo Federici, sons of Bojaco of Gorzone, bought all the property that Girardo Brusati owned in the land of Artogne. Artogne is indicated on the 1508 map of Valle Camonica designed by Leonardo da Vinci, which is kept at the Royal Library of Windsor, in Great Britain. In 1912 a severe flood hit the village. In 1927 the town merged with that of Pian Camuno, creating the town of Pian d'Artogne. This was split again in 1957. On July 26, 1944 Battista Pedersoli, Giacomo Marioli and Antonio Cotti Cottiniare were killed at the Cascina Campelli by nazi-fascists. Courcelles, Belgium
Courcelles (; wa, Courcele) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. As of January 1, 2006, Courcelles had a total population of 29,626. The total area is 44.24 km² which gives a population density of 670 inhabitants per km². The municipality consists of the following districts: Courcelles, Gouy-lez-Piéton, Souvret, and Trazegnies. In 1944, the town was the site of the Courcelles Massacre of 20 civilians by Belgian collaborators. The event is commemorated by a plaque at the site. The mining In 1853, a company, called Société Anonyme des Charbonnages du Nord de Charleroi, was formed to bring together the various concessions located in Courcelles. The mining capacity was 19,000 tons in 1854. It reached 500,000 tons in 1930. Elena Fanchini
Elena Fanchini (30 April 1985 – 8 February 2023) was an Italian World Cup alpine ski racer. Born in Val Camonica, she focused on the speed events of downhill and super-G. Her younger sisters Nadia and Sabrina also raced on the Italian team. Biography Fanchini won two World Cup races in downhill 9 years apart and won a silver medal at the 2005 world championships. She represented Italy at three Winter Olympics and six World Championships. Illness and death On 12 January 2018, Fanchini announced that she would not compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics at Pyeongchang in order to undergo cancer treatment.
