Arthur J. Aasland
Arthur Johannes Aasland (22 April 1934 – 17 February 2016) was a Norwegian businessperson. He grew up in Luksefjell, and took his education at the Norwegian Military Academy. After serving in the armed forces, and reaching the rank of major, he was hired in the company Ing. F. Selmer in 1963. He became director of personnel here in 1967, before working as chief executive of Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk from 1975 to 1978 and Løvenskiold Vækerø from 1979 to 1985. He then ran his own consulting firm Aasland Management, and through that served on the board of 40 companies. Norwegian Military Academy
The Norwegian Military Academy (), in Oslo, educates officers of the Norwegian Army and serves as the King's Royal Guard. The academy was established in 1750, and is the oldest institution for higher education in Norway. History The Commander-in-Chief of the Norwegian armed forces, Hans Jacob Arnold Jensen, sent a request to the King of Denmark-Norway in 1750 to establish a school of mathematics in Christiania. The King determined, through the Royal Resolution of 16 December 1750, to establish The Free Mathematical School (). It was the first institution offering higher education in Norway, but it did not give any extensive military education. The students were recruited from the officer corps or from nobles in military service. After a reorganization in 1804, the school became an officer school and an independent unit with its own command. From 1876 to 1880 a college degree was required to apply. Bjarne Hurlen
Bjarne Hurlen (13 October 1915 – 19 November 1998) was a Norwegian military officer, engineer and industrialist. He was born in Ålesund to Johan B. Hurlen and Emma Hildre. In 1943 he married Oline Oseasen Midthassel. Hurlen served as chief executive of Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk from 1956 to 1975, and from 1962 to 1972 also chief executive of Raufoss Ammunisjonsfabrikker. He was decorated Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav in 1964, and was a Knight of the Swedish Order of Vasa.
