Arthur Charles Cole
Arthur Cole (April 22, 1886 - February 26 1976) was an American historian. He specialized in the history of the American Civil War and taught at several universities over the course of his career, including University of Illinois (1912 to 1920), Ohio State University (1920 to 1930), Western Reserve University (1930 to 1944), and finally Brooklyn College, where he served as Chair of the History Department from 1950 to 1956 and retired as Professor Emeritus. Cole was born April 22, 1886, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan, where received his bachelor's degree in 1907. He then enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied under Professor Herman Vandenburg Ames. He received his doctorate in 1911. Cole's first monograph, ''The Whig Party in the South'', won the Justin Winsor Prize of the American Historical Association in 1912. Published by the Dean and Canons of St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle and president of Magdalen College, Oxford, from 1555 to 1558. Arthur Cole, 1st Baron Ranelagh
Arthur Cole, 1st Baron Ranelagh (1669 – 5 October 1754), known as Sir Arthur Cole, Bt, between c. 1691 and 1715, was an Irish politician. Cole was the eldest son of Sir John Cole, 1st Baronet, by Elizabeth Chichester, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel John Chichester and the Hon. Mary Jones, daughter of Roger Jones, 1st Viscount Ranelagh, and aunt of Richard Jones, 1st Earl of Ranelagh. He succeeded his father in the baronetcy around 1691 and was returned to the Irish House of Commons for Enniskillen in 1692, a seat he held until 1695. From 1695 to 1703 he represented Roscommon Borough in the Irish Parliament. In 1715, he was raised to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Ranelagh, of Ranelagh in the County of Wicklow, a revival of the Ranelagh title which had become extinct on the death of his first cousin once removed the Earl of Ranelagh in 1715. Arthur Cole-Hamilton
Hon. Arthur Cole-Hamilton (born Cole; 8 August 1750 – 1810) was an Anglo-Irish politician who sat in the Irish House of Commons for Fermanagh and Enniskillen. After the Acts of Union 1800, he sat in British House of Commons for Enniskillen. Cole-Hamilton was the second son of John Cole, 1st Baron Mountflorence (1709–1767) of Florencecourt, County Fermanagh, and his wife, Elizabeth Montgomery. His elder brother was William Cole, 1st Earl of Enniskillen. In 1780, he married Letitia Hamilton, daughter and heiress of Claud Hamilton, MP in the Irish Parliament, and appended her surname. Arthur Henry Cole
Hon. Arthur Henry Cole (28 June 1780 – 16 June 1844) was an Anglo-Irish politician and civil servant who sat in the British House of Commons for Enniskillen from 1828 to 1844. Cole was the fourth son of William Cole, 1st Earl of Enniskillen (died 1803), and Anne, daughter of Galbraith Lowry-Corry, Irish MP for County Tyrone and sister of Armar Lowry-Corry, 1st Earl Belmore. He was the younger brother of John Cole, 2nd Earl of Enniskillen, Sir Galbraith Lowry Cole, and Right Rev. William Cole. He was educated at Trinity College Dublin. Cole arrived in British India in 1802 as part of the East India Company, and was described by Lord Cornwallis as "a very fine lad, and modest, and well behaved." He was appointed the British Resident in Mysore in 1812, serving for about 15 years before returning home to start his political career.
