Arthur Cole DD (d. 18 July 1558) was a canon of Windsor from 1543 to 1558''Fasti Wyndesorienses'', May 1950. S.L. Ollard. Published by the Dean and Canons of St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle and president of Magdalen College, Oxford, from 1555 to 1558. Career He was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford, where he graduated BA in 1518, MA in 1522, BD in 1554 and DD in 1555. He was appointed: *Cross bearer to Cardinal Wolsey *Rector of Oddington, Gloucestershire 1547 *Rector of Remenham, Berkshire 1549 *Prebendary of Twyford in St Paul's 1554 *Fellow of Eton College 1554 *President of Magdalen College, Oxford 1555 - 1558 He was appointed to the eleventh stall in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle in 1543 and held the canonry until 1558. Dean And Canons Of Windsor
The Dean and Canons of Windsor are the ecclesiastical body of St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. Foundation The college of canons was established in 1348 by Letters Patent of King Edward III. It was formally constituted on the feast of St Andrew the Apostle, 30 November 1352, when the statutes drawn up by William Edington, bishop of Winchester, as papal delegate, were solemnly delivered to William Mugge, the warden of the college. Accepting that the process of foundation took several years to complete, the college takes the year 1348 as its formal date of foundation. Magdalen College (, ) is a constituent college of the University of Oxford. It was founded in 1458 by William of Waynflete. Today, it is the fourth wealthiest college, with a financial endowment of £332.1 million as of 2019 and one of the strongest academically, setting the record for the highest Norrington Score in 2010 and topping the table twice since then. It is home to several of the university's distinguished chairs, including the Agnelli-Serena Professorship, the Sherardian Professorship, and the four Waynflete Professorships. St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle
St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in England is a castle chapel built in the late-medieval Perpendicular Gothic style. It is both a Royal Peculiar (a church under the direct jurisdiction of the monarch) and the Chapel of the Order of the Garter. St George's Chapel was founded in the 14th century by King Edward III and extensively enlarged in the late 15th century. It is located in the Lower Ward of the castle. The castle has belonged to the monarchy for almost 1,000 years and was a principal residence of Elizabeth II before her death. The chapel has been the scene of many royal services, weddings and burials – in the 19th century, St George's Chapel and the nearby Frogmore Gardens superseded Westminster Abbey as the chosen burial place for the British royal family.
