Arth-Goldau railway station (german: Bahnhof Arth-Goldau) is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Schwyz and municipality of Arth. The station is located in the centre of the village of Goldau, which forms part of Arth. The station is an important junction, where the Zug–Arth-Goldau line joins the main line of the Gotthard line, and also where the Südostbahn-owned Pfäffikon–Arth-Goldau line diverges. The station has six platforms: three on the Gotthard line toward and three on the Zug–Arth-Goldau line toward . Thalwil–Arth-Goldau Railway
The Thalwil–Arth-Goldau railway is a Swiss railway that acts as a feeder route to the Gotthard Railway (''Gotthardbahn'', GB). It was opened for this purpose on 1 June 1897, with the Thalwil–Zug section owned by the Swiss Northeastern Railway (''Schweizerische Nordostbahn'', NOB) and the Zug–Arth-Goldau section owned by the GB. Since the nationalisation of the GB in 1909, the entire route has belonged to the Swiss Federal Railways (''Schweizerische Bundesbahnen'', SBB). The route is still partially single-track and therefore highly-subject to delays. In addition there is a danger of natural hazards, especially on the Zug–Arth-Goldau section, which as a result often has to be closed for several days. Gotthard Railway
The Gotthard railway (german: Gotthardbahn; it, Ferrovia del Gottardo) is the Swiss trans-alpine railway line from northern Switzerland to the canton of Ticino. The line forms a major part of an important international railway link between northern and southern Europe, especially on the Rotterdam-Basel-Genoa corridor. Voralpen Express
The ''Voralpen-Express'' (''VAE'') is a named train connecting small to medium-sized cities and villages in Central and Eastern Switzerland, carrying this name since 1992. It is operated by Südostbahn (SOB) and runs every hour between St. Gallen and Lucerne, bypassing Zurich. Its name derives from the fact that it traverses the Prealps (German: Voralpen). Pfäffikon–Arth-Goldau Railway
The Pfäffikon–Arth-Goldau railway is a largely single-track standard-gauge line in Switzerland. It was the only line built by the original ''Schweizerischen Südostbahn'' (Swiss Southeastern Railway). Two connecting lines, the Rapperswil–Pfäffikon railway over the Seedamm (causeway) and the Wädenswil–Einsiedeln railway, were built by two predecessor companies, the Wädenswil-Einsiedeln-Bahn and the Zürichsee–Gotthardbahn (Lake Zürich-Gotthard Railway). Arth–Rigi Railway
The Arth–Rigi Railway (german: Arth-Rigi-Bahn) is a Swiss standard gauge rack railway that runs from to Rigi. It was built by the eponymous Arth-Rigi-Bahn between 1873–1875 and operated by that company until its merger with the Vitznau-Rigi-Bahn in 1992 to form Rigi Railways. History When the people of Art, canton of Schwyz, heard that a railway to Rigi was to be built from the Lucerne side, they sought and received a concession in 1870 from the Cantonal Council of Schwyz to build lines on the Schwyz route between Staffelhöhe (Rigi Staffel) and Rigi Kulm and between Arth, Oberarth and Kulm. They commissioned the two engineers, Olivier Zschokke and Niklaus Riggenbach, to build the line. Goldau
Goldau is a town in the community of Arth, canton of Schwyz, Switzerland. It lies between the Rigi and Rossberg mountains, and between lakes Zug and Lauerz.
