Art Wallace
Art Wallace was an American television writer best known for his work on the gothic soap opera ''Dark Shadows''. He began work in television in the 1940s, on the anthology series '' Studio One'' and ''Kraft Television Theater''. Over the years, Wallace wrote for ''Tom Corbett, Space Cadet'', ''Combat!'', ''Star Trek'', and many other shows. The teleplay on which Dark Shadows was based was called "The House" and was an episode of the anthology series ''Goodyear Playhouse'' in 1957. When Dan Curtis had the idea for ''Dark Shadows'', he offered the job of producer to Art Wallace, who declined the job. Wallace offered to write the show and recommended Robert Costello for the job of producer. In 1966, working with Dan Curtis he wrote the bible and first eight weeks' worth of early episodes of ''Dark Shadows''. ''Dark Shadows'' is an American gothic soap opera that aired weekdays on the ABC television network, from June 27, 1966, to April 2, 1971. The show depicted the lives, loves, trials, and tribulations of the wealthy Collins family of Collinsport, Maine, where a number of supernatural occurrences take place. The series became popular when vampire Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid) was introduced ten months into its run. It would also feature ghosts, werewolves, zombies, man-made monsters, witches, warlocks, time travel, and a parallel universe. ''The Web'' is an American dramatic anthology series that aired live on CBS for four seasons from July 11, 1950, to September 26, 1954. The program was produced by Mark Goodson and Bill Todman, and was narrated by Jonathan Blake. ''The Nurses'' is a serialized primetime medical drama that was broadcast in the United States on Columbia Broadcast System, CBS from September 27, 1962, to May 11, 1965.
