Arriba En La Cordillera
"Arriba en la Cordillera" (translanted: "Up in the Mountain Range") is a song by the Chilean singer-songwriter Patricio Manns released as single in 1965 and included in the 1966 studio album ''Entre Mar y Cordillera.'' It reached #1 on the Chilean charts and was chosen as the most popular song at Huaso de Olmué Festival in 2009. Background In 1965, he left several of his jobs to settle in Santiago de Chile as a journalist for Canal 9 of the University of Chile. In it, Manns met Luis "Chino" Urquidi, a composer and arranger who worked with Los Cuatro Cuartos, a group that cultivated neofolk. In April of that year, the ''Peña de los Parra'' was inaugurated and he met the most important Chilean producer of the time, Camilo Fernández, an Demon label executive (later called Arena) who had the intention of recording with all the musicians of the peña, including Manns. Patricio Manns
Iván Patricio Eugenio Manns de Folliot (3 August 1937 – 25 September 2021) was a Chilean singer, composer, author, poet, novelist, essayist, play writer and journalist. He is known for his 1965 song " Arriba en la Cordillera". Life and career Infancy and youth Patricio Manns was born in the rural town of Nacimiento, in central Chile, on 3 August 1937. He is the son of a primary school teacher of French descent and an agricultural engineer of German descent. Both of his parents played the piano: his father was a jazz aficionado but his mother studied classical piano. His mother was also central in cultivating his interest in literature. In his youth he took up a broad range of occupations: from coal miner in Lota to reporter for the daily newspaper ''La patria'' in Concepción. Violeta Parra
Violeta del Carmen Parra Sandoval (; 4 October 1917 – 5 February 1967) was a Chilean composer, singer-songwriter, folklorist, ethnomusicologist and visual artist. She pioneered the Nueva Canción Chilena (The Chilean New Song), a renewal and a reinvention of Chilean folk music that would extend its sphere of influence outside Chile. "Gracias a la vida" (Spanish language, Spanish for "''Thanks to life''") is a song written, composed and performed by Chilean Violeta Parra, one of the artists who was part of the movement and musical genre known as the Nueva Canción Chilena. Antuco, Chile
Antuco is a Chilean commune and town in Bío Bío Province, Bío Bío Region. The commune includes Laguna del Laja and Laguna del Laja National Park, which contains Antuco Volcano and Sierra Velluda. The latter is the tallest mountain in Bío Bío Region. The town of Antuco is located slightly south of the south bank of the Laja River. Los Miserables is a Chilean punk rock band formed in the early 1990s shortly after the demise of the military regime of Augusto Pinochet. Inti-Illimani
Inti-Illimani (; from Quechuan ''Inti'' and Aymara ''Illimani)'' are an instrumental and vocal Latin American folk music ensemble from Chile. The band was formed in 1967 by a group of university students and it acquired widespread popularity in Chile for their song '' Venceremos'' (We shall win!), which became the anthem of the Popular Unity government of Salvador Allende.
