Arovane
Arovane is the recording name of German electronic music artist Uwe Zahn (born 1965 in Hameln, Germany). He also releases under the moniker Nedjev. Life and career Zahn was born in Hameln in 1965. He first began experimenting with rudimentary audio equipment and keyboards when he was 15. Over the years he continued experimenting and developing his sound, even learning to play the clarinet at one point. In the late 80s he began dealing with synthesizers and turntablism as well as deconstruction of hip hop beats. In 1989 Zahn began creating music with a collective of electronic musicians in Munich. This collective, known as S.A.M., was dedicated to creating live, free, electronic improvisational music and operated in Germany. In 1991 Zahn built his own studio in Berlin. ''Tides'' is the second studio album by German electronic music producer Arovane, released on 1 June 2000 by City Centre Offices. Critical reception ''Resident Advisor'' placed ''Tides'' at number 99 on its list of the 100 best albums of the 2000s; in an accompanying write-up, critic Todd Burns dubbed the album "a small masterpiece of ambient music that seemed to have nary a Max/MSP patch in sight." n5MD is a record label based in Oakland, California. The label was founded by Mike Cadoo in 2000. n5MD started out as a MiniDisc-only label, the label name meaning "No Fives, Minidiscs!" But when Sony DADC Austria stopped manufacturing pre-recorded MDs, n5MD changed over to CDs, continuing to release a few 7" records and eventually moving to 12". Much of the back catalog is available for purchase in MP3 format from the label's web site. The label specializes in more emotive styles of contemporary music, with their releases branching between post-rock, post-classical, experimental music and electronica. The label has released over 100 albums to date. n5MD signed with Redeye Worldwide in October 2017 for North American physical and worldwide digital distribution.
