Benedikt Arnstein
Benedikt David Arnstein (15 October 1765 – 6 January 1841), also known by the pen name Arenhof, was an Austrian playwright. He is considered the first German-language Jewish dramatist and poet. Biography Benedikt Arnstein was born in Vienna into a prominent Jewish banking family, the son of wholesaler David Isaak Arnstein. His grandfather was the prominent banker Adam Isaac von Arnstein (son of ), and his aunt the socialite Fanny von Arnstein. He began working at his grandfather's banking house in 1782, but left in 1786 to undertake a series of travels across Germany, France, Spain and Italy. This enabled him to become personally acquainted with many distinguished writers of his time, including and , who introduced him to classical Greek and Roman literature. Arnstein Johansen
Arnstein Johansen (June 19, 1925 – September 26, 2013) was a Norwegian accordionist that played jazz and old-fashioned dances. He became well-known through his recordings and his international collaboration. Life Johansen was born in Fredrikstad. He studied under Ottar E. Akre, Thorleif Ekren, and Gunnar Sønstevold, and also at the Norwegian Academy of Music. After the Second World War, he played in a duet with Rolf Andersen, and then spent time in the United States, playing with Pietro Frosini, Guido Deiro, and Anthony Galla-Rini. Arnstein Øverkil
Arnstein Øverkil (29 March 1937 – 27 February 2014) was a Norwegian police chief and civil servant. He was born in Hegra, and from 1985 to 2002 he was the chief of police in Asker and Bærum Police District. In 2003 he was appointed as acting director of the Norwegian Police Security Service. He left in 2004 when a permanent replacement for Per Sefland finally was found. Øverkil came to the Police Security Service from the job as police advisor for Yassir Arafat, with whom he gained contact during the Oslo Process. Øverkil was also a central member of the Temporary International Presence in Hebron. He was in Hebron during the incident of February 2006 when TIPH observers were attacked by Palestinians and withdrawn. The attack had a connection to the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy. He was a freemason, and resided in Asker. Arnstein Rynning Arneberg (6 July 1882 – 9 June 1961) was a Norwegian architect. He was active professionally for 50 years and is often considered the leading architect in Norway of his time. Personal life Arnstein Rynning Arneberg was born in Fredrikshald (now Halden) as a son of factory manager Mauritz Otto Edward Arneberg (1845–1913) and Hermione Nicoline Mathilde Rynning (1858–1944). Arneberg grew up in Lysaker in Oslo. In 1910 he married Aagot Kielland Skavlan (1888–1960), a daughter of professor Olaf Skavlan. Baroness Franziska "Fanny" von Arnstein (29 September 1758 – 8 June 1818), born Vögele Itzig, was a Viennese socialite and salonnière. Biography Fanny Arnstein was born in Berlin, the daughter of Daniel Itzig. She was a member of the extensive and influential Jewish Itzig family. She married the banker Nathan Adam von Arnstein, a partner in the firm of ''Arnstein and Eskeles''; her sister Caecilie (Zipperche) was married to the other partner, Bernhard von Eskeles. They brought the social influences of Berlin to Vienna, notably the concept of the intellectual salon, to the Vienna of Joseph II. Sherry Phyllis Arnstein, (née Rubin) (11 January 1930 – 19 January 1997) was the author of the highly influential journal article "A Ladder of Citizen Participation". Working as a special assistant to the assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW), she developed the insights that led to the development of her seminal paper in the field of participation (decision making), participatory decision making.
