Arnprior District High School is a high school in Arnprior, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada. It is in the Renfrew County District School Board. The school's teams are known as the Rapids and its colours are red and white. Name Change In 2017, it was announced that Arnprior District High School would be changing their name for their sports teams from the historic Arnprior Redmen to the Arnprior Rapids. Sports The Arnprior Rapids compete in the Upper Ottawa Valley High School Athletics Association (UOVHSAA) at the county level and competes in the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (EOSSAA) at the district level. The Rapids senior football team went undefeated in 2011 and 2012, winning the National Capital Bowl AA provincial championship both years. Arnprior is a town in Renfrew County, in the eastern portion of Southern Ontario, Canada. It is located west of Downtown Ottawa, at the confluence of the Madawaska River and the Ottawa River in the Ottawa Valley. Arnprior has experienced significant growth in populations with the widening of the 417 Provincial Highway to four lanes. The town experienced an increase in population by 8.4% from 2011 to 2016, at which time its population was 8,795. D'Alton Corry Coleman
D'Alton Corry Coleman (July 9, 1879October 17, 1956) was a Canadian railway executive and businessman. He began working for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in 1899, and was promoted through its ranks until serving as president from 1942 to 1947. He oversaw expansion which added of branch lines in the Canadian Prairies, and guided Western Canada railways through the Great Depression. He developed the CPR to support logistics during World War II, including manufacture of munitions, expanded shipbuilding and established one of the country's first private blood donation clinics. Canadian Pacific Air Lines was established under his leadership, and he became chairman of the CP Ships, Canadian Pacific Steamship Company, Canadian Pacific Hotels and other subsidiaries.
