Arne Grunander
Arne Grunander (28 January 1918 – 13 February 1987) was a Swedish ice hockey executive. He helped lead Djurgårdens IF Hockey to nine championships and served as president of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association from 1978 to 1983. He was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame posthumously in 1997. Career As a youth, Grunander played football alongside Birger Sandberg, where he helped his school win the Crown Prince's trophy in 1937. In 1948, Grunander took over as chairman of Djurgårdens IF Hockey and in his first year with the team helped them qualify for the then-highest league, Allsvenskan. From the 1948 season onwards, Djurgården won nine Swedish championships between 1950 and 1963. As Grunander saw his team dominating the league, he was one of the first instigators that argued for a new elite series of Swedish hockey. IK Göta
IK Göta is a Sweden, Swedish sports club, which was very successful in several sports such as track and field, handball, bowling, field hockey, ice hockey, soccer (women only) and bandy during the 20th century. Their most famous and successful sport was ice hockey. They won the List of Swedish ice hockey champions, Swedish ice hockey championship nine times, including the 1922 Swedish Ice Hockey Championship, inaugural championship in 1922. The club was also operating bandy teams, both women's and men's, winning the List of Swedish bandy champions, Swedish men's championship in bandy once, in 1927. In women's bandy they were far more successful, winning eight times, the last time in 1984. Today, the club only operates an ice hockey section under the name Göta Traneberg IK, following a merger with Tranebergs IF in 2007. IIHF Hall Of Fame Inductees
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey. Swedish Hockey Hall Of Fame
The Swedish Hockey Hall of Fame was created 2011 to honor those individuals who have contributed to Swedish ice hockey. The Hall of Fame includes notable players, coaches, referees and other personalities. The first inductees were honored in 2011 and are recorded with an inductee number. Currently (2018) there are 120 inductees in the hall of fame. Some election is by voting open to the public. Ove Lars Gösta Malmberg (17 May 1933 – 23 June 2022) was a Swedish ice hockey defenceman and Olympian. Malmberg played with Team Sweden at the 1956 Winter Olympics held in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.
