Armorel High School
Armorel High School is a comprehensive public high school serving students in grades seven through twelve in the distant, rural community of Armorel, Arkansas, United States. It is the one of seven public high schools located in Mississippi County, Arkansas and the only high school administered by Armorel School District. Highway 137 (AR 137, Ark. 137, and Hwy. 137) is a north–south state highway in Mississippi County, Arkansas. The route runs from Highway 312 north to the Missouri state line. Route description Highway 137 begins east of Blytheville and runs east from Highway 312. The route serves as the northern terminus for its spur route before turning due north at Hickman. After serving as the eastern terminus for Highway 150, the route continues north along the Mississippi River until terminating at MO-SSR-K/NN at the Missouri state line. The road is a two-lane, undivided, rural route for its entire length. History The route became a state highway in 1930, running from Highway 18 north to the Mississippi River. Armorel, Arkansas
Armorel is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Mississippi County, Arkansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 312. It is in a largely rural area with most of its land devoted to forests and farms. Most of the town lies between Arkansas highways 18 and 312. The town was founded in 1899 by lumber magnate and president of Lee Wilson and Company, R.E.L. Wilson as one of his many company holdings. Wilson was an eclectic and colorful figure with vast land holdings in the Delta area after the Civil War. Also a proponent of education, Wilson was one of the original trustees of Arkansas State University, then A & M College. He sat on the board from 1917 until his death in 1933. Blytheville is the county seat and the largest city in Mississippi County, Arkansas, United States. It is approximately north of West Memphis. The population was 13,406 at the 2020 census, down from 15,620 in 2010. History Blytheville was founded by Methodist clergyman Henry T. Blythe in 1879.
