Armenian Brazilians ( pt, armeno-brasileiro, armênio-brasileiro) are Brazilian persons who are fully, partially, or predominantly of Armenian descent, or Armenian immigrants in Brazil. Migration history Armenian immigrants in Brazil gathered mostly in and around the city of São Paulo, where there are churches, cultural centers, and even a metro station named " Armênia". The Armenian community maintains a strong presence in the city, albeit not in the country as a whole. Armenians in Latin America arranged a demonstration in Brazil, in the city of São Paulo at the Armenian genocide monument on 24 April 1965 of the 50th Anniversary of putting into force the Law of Relocation, and a play titled "The Adventures of Armenians 1915" was written and performed by Armenians of Brazil at a theatre in São Paulo. Armênia (São Paulo Metro)
Armênia, originally known as Ponte Pequena, is a metro station on São Paulo Metro Line 1-Blue, located in the district of Bom Retiro, in São Paulo. History It was opened on 26 September 1975, named as Ponte Pequena, as a reference to the name of the location (the old bridge of Avenida Tiradentes over Tamanduateí River, which contrasted to the now demolished Ponte Grande, over Tietê River). On 12 November 1985, the station was renamed as a tribute for Armenian immigrants in São Paulo, who financially helped in the construction of the station. It is the seventh station towards Jabaquara. Ricardo Tacuchian, born in Rio de Janeiro (born 18 November 1939), is a Brazilian conductor, composer and Doctor in Musical Arts (Composition) at the University of Southern California. Immigration to Brazil is the movement to Brazil of foreign peoples to reside permanently. It should not be confused with the colonization of the country by the Portuguese, or with the forcible bringing of people from Africa as slaves. Armenian Diaspora
The Armenian diaspora refers to the communities of Armenians outside Armenia and other locations where Armenians are considered an indigenous population. Since antiquity, Armenians have established communities in many regions throughout the world. However, the modern Armenian diaspora was largely formed as a result of World War I, when the Armenian genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire forced Armenians living in their homeland to flee or risk being killed. Current and historical relations between Armenia and Brazil, have existed for decades. The Armenian community in Brazil is the second largest in Latin America (after Argentina) totaling approximately 100,000 members. History The first Armenians arrived in Brazil in the late 1800s. Marcos Pinheiro Pizzelli (; hy, Մարկոս Պինեյրո Պիզզելլի; born 3 October 1984), commonly known as Marcos, is a former professional footballer. Born in Brazil, Marcos represented Armenia internationally between 2008 and 2019. Club career Ararat Yerevan Pizzelli started his career at the Brazilian club São Carlos as a youth from 2000 to 2005.
