Arlington Cup
The Arlington Cup (Japanese アーリントンカップ) is a Grade 3 horse race for three-year-old Thoroughbreds run in April over a distance of 1600 metres at Hanshin Racecourse. The race was first run in 1992 and has held Grade 3 status ever since. It serves as a trial race for the NHK Mile Cup. Past winners of the race have included Eishin Preston, Tanino Gimlet, Just A Way and Mikki Isle. Winners since 2000 The 2019 winner Iberis was a filly. Hanshin Racecourse
is located in Takarazuka, Hyogo, Japan. It has a capacity of 139,000 and it is used for horse racing. The land was originally owned by Kawanishi Aircraft Company, which manufactured combat planes during World War II. After the World War II, GHQ ordered the company to stop manufacturing combat planes, which ended in closing the factory. In 1949, Keihanshin Keiba K.K. built the Hanshin Racecourse. The racecourse was transferred to Japan Racing Association in 1955. A major reconstruction was completed in 1991, and another in 2006. Physical attributes Hanshin Racecourse has two turf courses, a dirt course, and a jump course. The turf's measures 2089m (1 miles + 254 feet), and the measures 1689m (1 mile + 261 feet). Two chutes allow races to be run at 1800m/1400m and 2600m/2200m, respectively. Races can be run on the "A Course" rail setting (on the hedge), or the "B Course" setting (rail out 4 meters). Koshiro Take
(b. November 3, 1978, in Rittō, Shiga) is a Japanese trainer and ex-jockey. He is the younger brother of Yutaka Take. Take debuted as a jockey in March 1, 1997 at the Hanshin Racecourse. The following day, he won his first race and also his first graded race at the same time, with him winning the Yomiuri Milers Cup while riding ''Osumi Tycoon,'' making him the fastest rookie to win a graded race. He won his first Grade 1 race in 2000 when he won the Shuka Sho with ''Tico Tico Tac,'' but failed to win another Grade 1 race until his victory at the Kikuka Sho with ''Song of Wind'', and wouldn't for another 7 when he won 3 Grade 1 races with ''Meisho Mambo.'' He gained his trainer license in December of 2016, and as JRA rules do not allow jockeys to be trainers at the same time, he retired as a jockey in February of 2017. Danon Scorpion
Danon Scorpion ( ja, ダノンスコーピオン, link=no foaled 22 February 2019) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. He was one of the leading two-year-old colts in Japan in 2021 when he won his first two races including the Hagi Stakes and then ran third in the Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes. As a three-year-old he ran poorly on his seasonal debut but then recorded victories in the Arlington Cup and NHK Mile Cup. Background Danon Scorpion is a bay horse with a narrow white blaze bred in Japan by K I Farm. During his track career he carried the red and white colours of Danox Co Ltd the business software enterprise of his owner Masahiro Noda, and was trained by Takayuki Yasuda. Christophe Lemaire
Christophe Patrice Lemaire (Japanese:, born 20 May 1979) is a French-born jockey. He has enjoyed much of his success on the Japanese flat racing circuit, with the most wins at Japan Racing Association racetracks for five consecutive years since 2017. Career Lemaire began racing in 1999, after he obtained the license required for a French jockey. From there, he has steadily built up a good track record, becoming the seventh leading jockey in 2003, and winning the French Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris in the same year. Rainbow Line
Rainbow Line, ( ja, レインボーライン, link=no, foaled 1 April 2013) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and sire (horse), sire. He showed promise as a two-year-old in 2015 when he won two of his five starts. In the following year he recorded his first important victory in the Graded stakes race, Grade 3 Arlington Cup and went on to finish third in the NHK Mile Cup and second in the Kikuka Sho. He failed to win in 2017 but ran well in several major races. He reached his peak in the spring of 2018 when he won the Hanshin Daishoten and the spring edition of the Tenno Sho but sustained a career-ending injury in the latter race. William Buick
William Buick (born 22 July 1988) is a Norwegian-British flat jockey. He shared the champion apprentice jockey title in 2008 with David Probert and won the Lester Award for Apprentice Jockey of the Year in 2007 and 2008. From 2010 to 2014 he was stable jockey to John Gosden. In 2015 he signed with Godolphin. Buick won his first Group1 race in Canada in 2010 and since then has won Group 1 races in England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. Copano Richard
Copano ( es, El Copano) is a ghost town on the northwestern shore of Copano Bay in Refugio County, Texas. It is located north of present-day Bayside, on Copano Point. The port, which holds the distinction as the first in South Texas, was founded in the early 18th century by the Spanish, and named for the Copane Indians who resided in the area. Initially, it was used as a port by smugglers and pirates, until 1785, when it was officially opened for use by the Spanish empire. The port was abandoned in the 1880s, following the settlement of the area after the Texas Revolution. Northern River (Japanese :ノーザンリバー, foaled April 12, 2008) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2011 Arlington Cup. Career His brother is , who won the 2011 Elm Stakes and 2012 Diolite Kinen. Northern River's first race was on September 11, 2010, at Sapporo, where he came in 2nd. Northern River picked up his win in Kyoto on January 16, 2011. He then picked up another win 2 week later in Kyoto, and then won the 2011 Arlington Cup. This win helped earn Northern River a place in the Grade-1, 2011 Satsuki Sho, where he finished in a disappointing 15th place.
