Arkansas Highway 340
Highway 340 (AR 340, Ark. 340, Hwy. 340, also Lancashire Boulevard) is an east–west state highway in Benton County, Arkansas. The route of runs entirely across Bella Vista, from Arkansas Highway 279 in the west to Arkansas Highway 94 in the east. Route description The highway begins in west Bella Vista at Forest Hills Boulevard near the Northwest Arkansas Community College Bella Vista campus. AR 340 winds past numerous retirement communities and a few lakes on its way through the village. Approximately halfway along its length, AR 340 intersects US Route 71, which is a four-lane expressway. The interchange with US 71 is unusual, with long ramps on the northbound side and cramped southbound ramps. Traffic must exit US 71 and slow immediately to on a 180 degree curve before stopping and gaining access to AR 340. On the other side of US 71, the highway runs near the Mildred B. The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT), formerly the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, is a government department in the U.S. state of Arkansas. Its mission is to provide a safe, efficient, aesthetically pleasing and environmentally sound intermodal transportation system for the user. Thorncrown Chapel
Thorncrown Chapel is a chapel located in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, designed by E. Fay Jones, and constructed in 1980. The design recalls the Prairie School of architecture popularized by Frank Lloyd Wright, with whom Jones had apprenticed. The chapel was commissioned by Jim Reed, a retired schoolteacher, who envisioned a non-denominational pilgrimage chapel set apart for meditation. The design of Thorncrown Chapel was inspired by Sainte-Chapelle, a Gothic church in Paris, France, pierced by numerous stained glass windows. It held some of King Louis's medieval Christian relics, including the Crown of Thorns believed worn by Christ. This relic inspired the name of the American chapel. Hiwasse, Arkansas
Hiwasse was an unincorporated census-designated place in Benton County, Arkansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 497. It is the location of (or is the nearest community to) Hiwasse Bank Building, which is located at Main St., AR 279 and Banks House, which is located on AR 72 west of Hiwasse. Both are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Hiwasse faced a great division in 2007–2008, when two groups faced off over the incorporation of Hiwasse. In the end, the voters decided not to incorporate, with adjacent Gravette annexing the community in 2012.
