Arkansas Highway 134
Arkansas Highway 134 (AR 134, Hwy. 134) is an east–west state highway in Miller County, Arkansas. The route of runs from US Route 71 (US 71) near Fouke to US 82 in Garland. Route description AR 134 begins near Fouke and runs east underneath Highway 549, but does not have a junction with the route. The route runs north near the Red River and runs to Highway 196. Highway 134 turns east and runs to Garland, when it terminates at US 82. Former Choctaw route This route first appeared on the October 1928 state highway map from Highway 9 to Choctaw; the current Highway 134 also first appeared at this time. This road remained on the map through July 1931, but was removed on the following map. Garland, also known as Garland City, is a town in Miller County, Arkansas, United States. It is part of the Texarkana, Texas - Texarkana, Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 195 at the 2020 census, down from 242 in 2010. Geography Garland is located in eastern Miller County at (33.362268, -93.715081), on the west bank of the Red River. Miller County is a county located in the southwestern corner of the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 43,462. The county seat is Texarkana. Miller County is part of the Texarkana, TX-AR, Metropolitan Statistical Area. When first formed, Miller County was Arkansas's sixth county, established on April 1, 1820, and named for James Miller, the first governor of the Arkansas Territory. Additionally, Miller County was the first of the state's counties to be formed upon the creation of the Arkansas Territory. The first five — Arkansas, Lawrence, Clark, Hempstead and Pulaski — were formed during Arkansas's days as part of the Missouri Territory. This county was abolished in 1838. Interstate 49 (I-49) is an Interstate Highway in the state of Arkansas. There are two main sections of the highway across different sides of the state. The southern section starts at the Louisiana state line, then runs to Texarkana, at the Texas state line. The northern section begins at I-40 and at U.S. Highway 71 (US 71) in Alma and runs north to the Missouri state line, where the freeway continues into Missouri. Route description I-49 enters the state from Louisiana between Ida and Doddridge. The first interchange in Arkansas is with US 71 at exit 4. The Interstate passes near the town of Fouke, where it has another interchange with US 71. The highway enters Texarkana and has an interchange with Highway 151 and runs along the eastern portion of the Texarkana Loop.
