Highway 95 (AR 95, Ark. 95, and Hwy. 95) is a designation for a north–south state highway in north central Arkansas. The route runs runs north from US Highway 64 and Highway 113 in Morrilton north to Highway 330. Route description Highway 95 begins in the Arkansas River Valley at US 64 and Highway 113 in Morrilton and runs north past the historic Morrilton Post Office, listed on National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The route runs north through a residential area before intersections with Highway 132 and Highway 95 Spur (AR 95S). North of these junctions, the highway crosses Interstate 40 (I-40) at a full interchange before becoming a rural route and passing through unincorporated areas. Morrilton, Arkansas
Morrilton is a city in Conway County, Arkansas, United States, less than northwest of Little Rock. The city is the county seat of Conway County. The population was 6,992 at the 2020 United States census. History In 1825 a trading post was established about a mile south of present-day Morrilton on the Arkansas River. This town, later named Lewisburg, thrived after being incorporated in 1844. In 1871 the Little Rock and Fort Smith Railroad built track through present day Morrilton. It was later named Morrilton after the previous landowners E.J. and George H. Morrill. The downtown grew around the Morrills' land and that owned by James M. Moose. Residents of Lewisburg eventually moved away from the river and to the railroad hub at Morrilton. In 1883 Morrilton became the seat of Conway County, Arkansas. The following is a list of state highways in Arkansas. The state does not use a numbering convention. Generally the two-digit odd numbered highways run north–south with a few exceptions; and even-numbered two-digit state highways run east–west with a few exceptions. Arkansas has long had a stigma of poor roads, dating from the "Arkansas Roads Scandal" playing a prominent role in state politics through the 1920s and 1930s, periodic allegations of corruption, waste, and fraud, and a long-running struggle to adequately fund the operation, maintenance and expansion of a large highway system serving a rural state. The state has received the designation of "worst roads in America" from several publications throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s, with Interstate 30 and Interstate 40 often ranking particularly poorly among truckers. Telex Communications, originally Telex Corporation, was a Burnsville, Minnesota-based manufacturer of hearing aids and audio equipment. Greers Ferry Lake
Greers Ferry Lake is the reservoir formed by Greers Ferry Dam, a United States Army Corps of Engineers dam in Northern Arkansas. It is located about north of Little Rock. Geography The reservoir consists of two lakes connected by a water-filled gorge called the Narrows. The area of the two lakes and the Narrows totals about with a combined shoreline of just over 340 miles. In the 1800s there was a town, Higden, in the valley flooded by the lake. The farmers in Higden had constant trouble with flooding. The land was purchased, residents left and the city was abandoned, the cemeteries were moved, and the area was allowed to flood. The town has since been re-established on a nearby hill. Many nearby residents and several eyewitness accounts tell that homes and buildings still stand under the water to this day. Walter Patterson Filling Station
The Walter Patterson Filling Station is a historic automotive service station building on United States Route 65 in central Clinton, Arkansas. It is a small single-story brick building, with a steeply pitched gable roof. The front of the building is symmetrical, with a central entrance flanked by square single-pane display windows, and a cross-gable above the entrance. Built in 1936, it is the only gas station from that period to survive in the city, and is a good example of commercial English Revival architecture. Van Buren County Courthouse (Arkansas)
The Van Buren County Courthouse is located at the corner of Griggs and Main Streets in downtown Clinton, Arkansas, the county seat of Van Buren County. It is a two-story masonry structure, built primarily out of local stone. Its main facade is five bays wide, each flanked by broad sections that project a small amount. The main entrance is in the center bay, with a concrete surround of pilasters and a tall corniced entablature. It was built in 1934 with funding support from the federal Works Progress Administration, and was the county's third courthouse to be located in Clinton. A walnut is the edible seed of a drupe of any tree of the genus '' Juglans'' (family Juglandaceae), particularly the Persian or English walnut, '' Juglans regia''. Scotland, Arkansas
Scotland is an unincorporated community in southwestern Van Buren County, Arkansas, United States, near the head of the South Fork of the Little Red River. In April 2010, a tornado struck this community which resulted in extreme damage. Education Public education for elementary and secondary school students is provided by the Clinton School District, which leads students to graduate from Clinton High School.
