Jennifer Longdon
Jennifer "Jen" Longdon is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Arizona House of Representatives representing District 5 since January 9, 2023. She previously represented District 24 from 2019 to 2023. Longdon was elected in 2018 to succeed State Representative Lela Alston, who instead ran for State Senate. Longdon was paralyzed in 2004 in a random drive-by shooting. Amish Shah is an American doctor, politician and a Democratic member of the Arizona House of Representatives representing District 5 since January 9, 2023. He previously represented District 24 from 2019 to 2023. Shah defeated incumbent State Representative Ken Clark. Shah was born in Chicago to immigrant parents from India. He received degrees from Northwestern University and the University of California, Berkeley. Arizona Senate
The Arizona State Senate is part of the Arizona Legislature, the state legislature of the US state of Arizona. The Senate consists of 30 members each representing an average of 219,859 constituents (2009 figures). Members serve two-year terms with term limits that limit Senators to four terms for a total of eight years. Members of the Republican Party are currently the majority in the Senate. There is currently 16 women serving in the Senate after Raquel Terán was appointed, making it the first time a majority of the body was composed of female members. As with the Arizona House of Representatives, members to the Senate are elected from the same legislative districts as House members, however one Senator represents the constituency, while for the House there are two Representatives per district. Lela Alston
Lela Alston (born June 26, 1942) is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Arizona State Senate representing District 24 since January 14, 2019. She previously served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019, and from 2011 to 2013 in the District 11 seat, and non-consecutively in the Arizona State Legislature from 1977 until 1995 in the Arizona Senate.
