Ariz (Bilbao Metro)
Ariz is a station on line 2 of the Bilbao metro. The station is located in the municipality of Basauri. It was opened in 2011. The Euskotren Trena commuter railway network has a station with the same name at a distance of about , but the two stations are not connected. History It was opened on 28 February 2011, being the first metro station in the municipality of Basauri, the other one being Basauri station, which was opened on 11 November that same year. During the first day, more than 8,000 passengers used the new station. Until the opening of Basauri station, both lines 1 and 2 reached Ariz; starting on November 11 only line 2 uses it. Line 1 now terminates at Etxebarri. Basauri
Basauri is a major municipality of Biscay, in the Basque Country, an Autonomous Community in northern Spain. The town is a part of the Greater Bilbao conurbation, being only a few kilometers south of Bilbao. It is an industrial town that also includes monuments such as the tower-house of Ariz. It holds the only prison in the province, located where the rivers Nervión and Ibaizabal meet. The municipality has 40,589 inhabitants (2019). Geography Basauri is located in the metropolitan region of the Greater Bilbao, on both sides of the river Nervión and the lower valley of the river Nervión and Ibaizabal. Basauri is the southern terminus of line 2 of the Bilbao metro. The station is located in the municipality of Basauri, part of the Bilbao metropolitan area. It opened in 2011. The Cercanías Bilbao commuter railway network (operated by Renfe) also has a Basauri station on its C3 line, but they are not at the same location – there is a distance of about between them, with the Cercanías station serving the industrial area to the south of the town, including the large steel facility. BizkaiBus is the name for bus services serving the province of Biscay, Spain. It is named after the Basque name of the province, ''Bizkaia''. The buses can be identified by their distinctive green (until 2009 yellow) livery. The bus network is integrated in the Barik card system. Kabiezes is the northern terminus of line 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Kabiezes, in the municipality of Santurtzi. Construction of the station and the track between Santurtzi and Kabiezes began in 2009 and was delayed after a mudslide flooded the tunnel connecting both stations. It opened on 28 June 2014. Etxebarri is a station on lines 1 and 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is the southern terminus of line 1. The station is located in the municipality of Etxebarri, part of the Bilbao metropolitan area. It was opened in 2005. The station is on Fuenlabrada street, next to a park and ride parking facility.
