Geography Position Arganzuela is located in central-southern Madrid, separated from Latina, Carabanchel and Usera by the river Manzanares. The other bordering districts are Centro, Retiro and Puente de Vallecas. Acacias or Las Acacias is an administrative neighborhood (''barrio'') of Madrid belonging to the district of Arganzuela. It has an area of . As of 1 February 2020, it has a population of 37,049. Geography Acacias is located in city center and is crossed, at its south-eastern borders, by the river Manzanares. Atocha is an administrative neighborhood () of Madrid belonging to the district of Arganzuela. Etymology The Atocha meadow appears as and in the 13th-century Madrid town charter. Matadero Madrid
Matadero Madrid is the site of a former slaughterhouse, the El Matadero y Mercado Municipal de Ganados (English: Municipal Slaughterhouse and Cattle Market) in the Arganzuela district of Madrid. Today, it is a contemporary arts centre. History Slaughterhouse Architect was commissioned by the City Council of Madrid to design the complex. The slaughterhouse (in Spanish: matadero) and cattle market were built from 1911 and 1925. The project by was structured around a complex of pavilions characterised by functionality, constructive rationality and conceptual simplicity. There is however a historicist element to the architecture, which incorporates Neo-Mudéjar features, such as tiles with abstract designs.
