Ardey Railway
The Ardey Railway (german: Ardeybahn) is a 38 km long railway line running from Dortmund via Schwerte to Iserlohn ( KBS 433) in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Route The section between Dortmund Central Station and Dortmund-Horde part of the railway route Dortmund-Soest, is double track and electrified and classified as a mainline railway. The northern part of the Ardey Railway between Dortmund-Horde and Schwerte is a double-track and non-electrified main line. Its maximum speed is 90 km/h. The southern section between Schwerte and Iserlohn is a single-track non-electrified branch line, with a passing loop at Kalthof. Most of this section can be run at 100 km/h. The Letmathe–Fröndenberg railway has been closed between Iserlohn and Menden and there is currently no connection between the Ardey Railway and the line to Letmathe in Iserlohn. Iserlohn Station
Iserlohn station is located in central Iserlohn in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is at the end of two single-track lines, the Ardey Railway (''Ardeybahn'') from Dortmund and Schwerte and the line from Iserlohn-Letmathe with services from Essen via Hagen. Since 2008, it has operated from a rebuilt station called the ''Stadtbahnhof'' (city station). History Iserlohn station was opened in 1864, together with the line from Letmathe, which was extended to Hemer in 1885, connecting to Fröndenberg. In 1910 the Ardey Railway to Schwerte was added. In 1966, the old station building was replaced by a new building. The Letmathe–Fröndenberg railway between Iserlohn Ost station and Hemer was closed in 1989 because of the deterioration of a bridge on the line, which was not considered worth repairing. DB Class VT 24
Class 624 and class 634 are types of diesel multiple unit, originally operated by Deutsche Bahn. Development Whereas during the first years after World War II the focus of the Deutsche Bundesbahn was on repairs of rolling stock, lines and buildings, with the beginning of the 1950s attention shifted to renewal of the trains. For passenger services on not electrified lines, the first prototypes of main line diesel locomotives such as the class 220 were commissioned in 1953. Subsequently, DB ordered the rail industry to develop new DMUs in order to replace pre-war classes and steam traction. In 1961 MAN and Waggonfabrik Uerdingen both delivered two prototypes each.
