Archibald C. Niven
Archibald Campbell Niven (December 8, 1803 – February 21, 1882) was an American politician who served one term as a United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representative from New York from 1845 to 1847. Biography Born in Newburgh, New York, Niven completed preparatory studies. He was Probate court, Surrogate of Sullivan County, New York from 1828 to 1840, and was Adjutant General of the New York State Militia in 1844. Congress Niven was elected as a Democratic Party (United States), Democrat to the 29th United States Congress, holding office from March 4, 1845, to March 3, 1847. Later career He was District Attorney of Sullivan County from 1847 to 1850; and a member of the New York State Senate (9th D.) in 87th New York State Legislature, 1864. His election was contested by Republican Henry R. Low who was seated in place of Niven on January 17 for the 88th New York State Legislature, session of 1865. ''Daniel'' is an anonymous Old English poem based loosely on the Biblical Book of Daniel, found in the Junius Manuscript. The author and the date of ''Daniel'' are unknown. Critics have argued that Cædmon is the author of the poem, but this theory has been since disproved. ''Daniel'', as it is preserved, is 764 lines long. There have been numerous arguments that there was originally more to this poem than survives today. The majority of scholars, however, dismiss these arguments with the evidence that the text finishes at the bottom of a page, and that there is a simple point, which translators assume indicates the end of a complete sentence. Monticello ( ) is a village located in Thompson, Sullivan County, within the Catskills region of New York, United States. The population was 7,173 at the 2020 census.
