Arbeit Macht Frei (album)
''Arbeit macht frei'' (Work sets you free) is the debut album of the Jazz fusion band Area. It features Patrick Djivas (now known better for his work with Premiata Forneria Marconi) on bass and Eddie Busnello on saxophone, who parted after the release of the album. According to the booklet the lyrics were written by Frankestein (which is an alias for Gianni Sassi), and the music was written by Demetrio Stratos, Giulio Capiozzo and Patrick Djivas except "Consapevolezza" (co-writing with Patrizio Fariselli). All tracks were registered on Italian SIAE to Terzo Fariselli (Patrizio's father), due to the fact that the musicians were not members of SIAE. "Luglio, Agosto, Settembre (nero)" became Area's first hit. Most of the 7" censored the word "nero", which was a reference to Black September). It was released as a juke box item only, and the b-side was the song "Miña" by Italian prog band Aktuala. On the posthumous live release " Concerto Teatro Uomo", Demetrio Stratos says that "L'a ...

Aktuala
Aktuala were a pioneering band from Italy, formed in 1972. The name comes from the Esperanto for "contemporary". Their music has been categorised as world music, progressive rock, psychedelic, or avant garde, or "sounding like that of the English group Third Ear Band". They formed in 1972 in Milan by husband and wife team Walter and Laura Maioli who were collectors and performers of ancient and ethnic instruments. For a while the group lived together in a musical commune, "picking olives and playing music". They played unconventional venues including asylums and wharfs. They signed with the Bla Bla label and released their debut, self-titled album in 1973. Two members, Lino Vaccina and Walter Maioli, left soon afterwards to pursue a collaboration with Trilok Gurtu. All three returned for their second album, ''La Terra'', which was released in 1974. Following this, the band moved to Morocco to produce their third album, ''Tappeto Volante'', in 1976. VCS3
The VCS 3 (or VCS3; an initialism for ''Voltage Controlled Studio, version #3'') is a portable analog synthesizer with a flexible modular voice architecture introduced by Electronic Music Studios (London) Limited (EMS) in 1969. EMS released the product under various names. Logos printed at the console's front left (see photos) say "V.C.S. 3" on the most widely sold version; "The Putney (VCS 3)" on the earlier version; and "The Synthi (VCS 3) II" on the later version (Synthi VCS 3 II). History The VCS 3 was created in 1969 by Peter Zinovieff's EMS company. The electronics were designed largely by David Cockerell, and its distinctive appearance was the work of electronic composer Tristram Cary. It was one of the first ''portable'' commercially available synthesizers, in the sense that it was housed entirely in a small wooden case, unlike synths from American manufacturers such as Moog Music, ARP and Buchla, which had large cabinets and could take u ...

Whole Lotta Love
"Whole Lotta Love" is a song by English rock band Led Zeppelin. It is the opening track on the band's second album, ''Led Zeppelin II'', and was released as a single in 1969 in several countries; as with other Led Zeppelin songs, no single was released in the United Kingdom. In the United States, it became their first hit and was certified gold. Parts of the song's lyrics were adapted from Willie Dixon's " You Need Love", recorded by Muddy Waters in 1962; originally uncredited to Dixon, a lawsuit in 1985 was settled with a payment to Dixon and credit on subsequent releases. In 2004, the song was ranked number 75 on ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and in March 2005, '' Q'' placed "Whole Lotta Love" at number three in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks. It was placed 11 on a similar list by ''Rolling Stone''. In 2009 it was named the third greatest hard rock song of all time by VH1. In 2014, listeners to BBC Radio 2 voted "Whole L ...

Concerto Teatro Uomo
''Concerto Teatro Uomo'' is a live album by Italian Jazz fusion band Area released in 1996 and recorded in 1977 in Milan, while the band was supporting their fifth album ''Maledetti (Maudits)''. The album was criticized for its sound quality (it was not professionally recorded, unlike their 1975 live album ''Are(A)zione'') and for some packaging errors (the CD split between "Evaporazione" and "Arbeit Macht Frei" is wrong, there is an uncredited performance of "Diforisma Urbano" on "Il Massacro Di Brandeburgo Numero Tre in Sol Maggiore", "Improvvisazione" is "Are(a)zione" and the cover credits include Paul Lytton and Steve Lacy but they are absent in the recording "Area - Concerto Teatro Uomo - Area discography - Maclen's archive

Black September (group)
The Black September Organization (BSO) ( ar, منظمة أيلول الأسود, translit=Munaẓẓamat Aylūl al-Aswad) was a Palestinian militant organization founded in 1970. Besides other actions, the group was responsible for the assassination of the Jordanian Prime Minister Wasfi Tal, and the Munich massacre, in which eleven Israeli athletes and officials were kidnapped and killed, as well as a West German policeman losing his life, during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, their most publicized event. These attacks led to the creation or specialization of permanent counter-terrorism forces in many European countries. Origin The group's name is derived from the Black September conflict which began on 16 September 1970, when King Hussein of Jordan declared military rule in response to '' fedayeen'' attempting to seize his kingdom – resulting in the deaths and expulsion of thousands of Palestinians fighters from Jordan. The BSO began as a small cell of Fatah men de ...

Jazz Fusion
Jazz fusion (also known as fusion and progressive jazz) is a music genre that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined jazz harmony and jazz improvisation, improvisation with rock music, funk, and rhythm and blues. Electric guitars, amplifiers, and keyboards that were popular in rock and roll started to be used by jazz musicians, particularly those who had grown up listening to rock and roll. Jazz fusion arrangements vary in complexity. Some employ groove-based vamps fixed to a single key or a single chord with a simple, repeated melody. Others use elaborate chord progressions, unconventional time signatures, or melodies with counter-melodies. These arrangements, whether simple or complex, typically include improvised sections that can vary in length, much like in other forms of jazz. As with jazz, jazz fusion can employ brass and woodwind instruments such as trumpet and saxophone, but other instruments often substitute for these. A jazz fusion band is less likely to ...
