Arashan
Arashan is a village located to the south of city of Bishkek, in northern Kyrgyzstan. Its population was at 3,791 in 2021. The road leading north to Bishkek (about 22 km to the centre) becomes the M39 highway which links Bishkek to Almaty, Kazakhstan in the northeast. Nearby settlements include Tash-Moynok just to the northeast and Besh-Küngöy along the main road to the north, Chong-Tash to the northwest, Vorontsovskoye to the southwest and Koy-Tash and Prokhladnoye to the southeast. It lies in a fertile valley with lush green fields. There is a plantation to the north. Alamüdün District
Alamüdün ( ky, Аламүдүн району) is a district of Chüy Region in northern Kyrgyzstan. Its area is , and its resident population was 188,484 in 2021. Its administrative seat is Lebedinovka. The district surrounds Bishkek, but does not include it, because the city forms a region-level unit of its own. Asankhan Dzhumakhmatov
Asankhan Dzhumakhmatovich Dzhumakhmatov (16 June 1923 – 21 June 2008) was a Soviet and Kyrgyzstani composer and conductor of the Soviet era, born in Arashan. A member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1944, he was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1976. He graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1958, and held various posts in the Kirghiz SSR. He also received the Toktogul State Prize of the Kirghiz SSR in 1972. Almazbek Atambayev
Almazbek Sharshen uluu Atambayev ( ky, Алмазбек Шаршен уулу Атамбаев, translit=Almazbek Şarşen uulu Atambayev; born 17 September 1956) is a Kyrgyz politician who served as the President of Kyrgyzstan from 1 December 2011 to 24 November 2017. He was Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan from 17 December 2010 to 1 December 2011, and from 29 March 2007 to 28 November 2007. He served as Chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan (SDPK) from 30 July 1999 to 23 September 2011. In August 2019, Atambayev was imprisoned, facing charges of corruption and manslaughter. On 5 October 2020, election protestors freed him from prison. Chüy Region
Chüy Region ( ky, Чүй облусу, Chüy oblusu; russian: Чуйская область, Chuyskaya oblast) is the northernmost region (''oblast'') of the Kyrgyz Republic. This region surrounds the national capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek. It is bounded on the north by Kazakhstan, and clockwise, Issyk-Kul Region, Naryn Region, Jalal-Abad Region, and Talas Region. Its administrative center is Bishkek. Its total area is . The resident population of the region was 974,984 as of January 2021. Bishkek
Bishkek ( ky, Бишкек), ), formerly Pishpek and Frunze, is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is also the administrative centre of the Chüy Region. The region surrounds the city, although the city itself is not part of the region but rather a region-level unit of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is situated near the Kazakhstan–Kyrgyzstan border. Its population was 1,074,075 in 2021. In 1825, the Khanate of Kokand established the fortress of Pishpek to control local caravan routes and to collect tribute from Kyrgyz tribes. On 4 September 1860, with the approval of the Kyrgyz, Russian forces led by Colonel Apollon Zimmermann destroyed the fortress. In the present day, the fortress ruins can be found just north of Jibek jolu street, near the new main mosque. Almaty
Almaty (; kk, Алматы; ), formerly known as Alma-Ata ( kk, Алма-Ата), is the largest city in Kazakhstan, with a population of about 2 million. It was the capital of Kazakhstan from 1929 to 1936 as an autonomous republic as part of the Soviet Union, then from 1936 to 1991 as a union republic and finally from 1991 as an independent state to 1997 when the government relocated the capital to Akmola (renamed Astana in 1998, Nur-Sultan in 2019, and back to Astana in 2022).
