1969 Bihar Legislative Assembly Election
An election was held in 1969 to elect members to the Bihar Legislative Assembly, the lower house of the legislature of the Indian state of Bihar. After the elections, the Congress emerged as the largest party, and Harihar Singh was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar. Three parties contested in a 'Triple Alliance'; the Loktantrik Congress Dal, the Praja Socialist Party and the Samyukta Socialist Party. The Triple Alliance divided 295 out of 318 constituencies between them, assigning 23 seats to the Communist Party of India. Bihar People's Party
Bihar People's Party was a political party in the Indian state of Bihar, founded in 1993 by former leader of the Samajwadi Krantikari Sena and former Janata Dal MLA, Anand Mohan Singh. Singh's wife, Lovely Anand, won a by-election to the Lok Sabha (the lower house of the Parliament of India) from the north Bihar constituency of Vaishali in 1994 by defeating veteran leader Kishori Sinha, wife of Bihar stalwart and former Chief Minister Satyendra Narain Sinha. The party then fielded around 100 candidates in the 1995 state assembly elections, with Anand Mohan Singh himself standing and losing in three separate constituencies. BPP then joined with the Samata Party and Singh was elected to the Lok Sabha as a candidate of that party in 1996, then as an All India Rashtriya Janata Party candidate in 1998. Legislative Assembly elections were held in March 1995, to elect the 324 members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Janata Dal got a decisive victory in the state; political manoeuvre ensured Lalu Prasad Yadav's victory in the chief ministership. According to political scientist Sanjay Kumar, this election set a different trend in caste based politics of the state of Bihar, as in this election, there were two main political blocs in the state contesting for power. Janata Party (Secular)
The Janata Party (Secular) was an Indian political party founded by Raj Narain in July, 1979. On 16 July 1979, Charan Singh assumed its leadership and became the Prime Minister of India on 28 July 1979 with the support of the Indian National Congress (I) but resigned on 20 August 1979 after their withdrawal of support. The Janata Party led by Charan Singh was later renamed as Lok Dal before the 1980 Indian general election but officially contested in the elections under its previous name. In the elections for the 7th Lok Sabha in 1980, the party won 41 seats and received 9.39% of the total votes polled. Mohammed Taslimuddin
Mohammed Taslimuddin (4 January 1943 – 17 September 2017) was an Indian politician and a veteran RJD leader. He hailed from the village of Sisauna in the Araria district of Bihar. He started his political career as a sarpanch and was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly for the first time in 1969, serving as an MLA eight times. In 1989, he was first elected to the Lok Sabha from the Purnia constituency. He was thrice elected as an MP from the Kishanganj constituency in 1996, 1998 and 2004. He served his final stint as an MP in the 16th Lok Sabha after being elected from the Araria constituency. He died on 17 September 2017 at the age of 74 after being treated for respiratory problems in Chennai, he was laid to rest with state honours on 19 September 2017 at his birthplace located in Sisauna jokihat.
