Arabian Nights (ballet)
''One Thousand and One Nights'' (sometimes referred to as ''Arabian Nights'') is a ballet in two acts by Fikret Amirov to a libretto by playwrights Magsud Ibrahimbeyov and Rustam Ibragimbekov, together with the choreographer Naila Nazirova and artist Togrul Narimanbekov. The libretto is based on episodes from '' One Thousand and One Nights'', a collection of stories and folk tales compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age. The ballet premiered in 1979 at the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater. Ballet () is a type of performance dance that originated during the Italian Renaissance in the fifteenth century and later developed into a concert dance form in France and Russia. Fikret Amirov
Fikret Mashadi Jamil oghlu Amirov ( az, Fikrət Məşədi Cəmil oğlu Əmirov; November 22, 1922, Ganja – February 20, 1984, Baku) was a prominent Soviet and Azerbaijani composer. Biography Fikret Amirov grew up in an atmosphere of Azerbaijani folk music. His father, Mashadi Jamil Amirov, was a famous mugam singer ("''xanəndə''"), who played tar and composed, including the 1915 opera '' Seyfal mulk''. During his childhood and early adolescence, Fikret began composing pieces for the piano. Upon his graduation from the Ganja Music College, Amirov entered the Azerbaijan State Conservatoire, now known as the Baku Music Academy, where he was a student of Boris Zeidman and Uzeyir Hajibeyov. In 1941, when Nazi Germany attacked the USSR, Amirov, 19 at the time, was drafted to the Soviet army. A libretto (Italian for "booklet") is the text used in, or intended for, an extended musical work such as an opera, operetta, masque, oratorio, cantata or Musical theatre, musical. Magsud Ibrahimbeyov
Magsud Mammadibrahim oglu Ibrahimbeyov, also spelled Ibragimbekov ( az, Maqsud İbrahimbəyov; 11 May 1935 – 22 March 2016), was a Soviet and Azerbaijani writer and member of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan. Life and contributions Ibrahimbeyov was born in Baku, Azerbaijan to Mammad Ibrahimbeyov and Fatima Meshadibeyova. He was the older brother of Rustam Ibragimbekov, a prominent Azerbaijani screenwriter. In 1960, he received a B.A. in Industrial and Civil Construction from Baku Polytechnical Institute. He later worked at the Azerbaijan SSR Ministry of Construction and tried himself as a reporter representing Azerbaijan at the All-Union Radio and Television. At this stage he began focusing on literary studies and attended courses for advanced screenwriting and directing in Moscow from 1960 until 1964. Rustam Mammad Ibrahim oghlu Ibrahimbeyov (or Ibrahimbekov; az, Rüstəm Məmməd İbrahim oğlu İbrahimbəyov; russian: Рустам Мамед Ибрагим оглы Ибрагимбеков; 5 February 1939 – 11 March 2022) was a Soviet and Azerbaijani screenwriter, playwright and producer, well known beyond his home Azerbaijan and the former Soviet Union. He was the chair of the Cinematographers' Union of Azerbaijan and director of the Ibrus Theatre. Naila Nazirova
Naila is a town in the Frankenwald hills, in the Hof district of Bavaria. Naila is from the larger city of Hof, on both banks of the Selbitz river. History The earliest documentation of Naila dates at 9 January 1343. The first settlements in the area around Naila probably happened between the 12th and 14th century. The name Naila first appeared as "Neulins" (and variations thereof), has its origins most likely in the meaning "Small new settlement". Togrul Farman oglu Narimanbekov ( az, Toğrul Fərman oğlu Nərimanbəyov, russian: Тогрул Нариманбеков; 7 August 1930 – 2 June 2013) was one of the prominent modern Azerbaijani artists. History Narimbanbekov was born in Baku. His father, Farman Narimanbekov, who hailed from Shusha, studied in Toulouse; in 1929 he came back to Baku and participated in the construction of Mingachevir Hydro Power Plant, but in the 1930s was sentenced to imprisonment.
