Arabic Industrial Development and Mining Organization (AIDMO)( ar, المنظمة العربية للتنمية الصناعية والتعدين) History In a summit in Kuwait in 1966 the Arab League decided to establish an organization to improve and develop the industry in general. The decision was approved by the Council of Arab Economic Unity in 1968 and Arab Standardization and Metrology Organization was formed and the headquarters was established in Cairo. In 1975, the Arab Ministries of Industries freed the organization from the Arab League influence and it became an independent organization, under Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization. The organization's headquarters was moved from Cairo to Tunis temporarily from 1979 to 1980. The Council of Arab Economic Unity (CAEU) (Arabic: ) was founded by Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Mauritania, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Yemen on May 30, 1964, following an agreement in 1957 by the Economic Council of the Arab League. Arab Standardization And Metrology Organization
The Arab Organization for Standardization and Metrology (french: Organisation arabe de normalisation et de métrologie, es, Organización Arabe de Unificación de Normas y Metrologia), also known as Arab Organization for Standardization and Measures, was founded in 1965 as a specialized agency under the Arab League by the Council of Arab Economic Unity. The organization's functions included offering technical advice to Arab states on systems of weights and measures; providing professional training and research on industrial production quality, metrology, test and inspection methods; and seeking standardization of technical terms and product specifications between member nations. The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) is a regional Arab organization, a working sub-organization of the Arab League. It was founded 1976, and has been operational since 1977. History The first president and director of the Arab Monetary Fund, from 1977 to 1982, was Dr. Jawad Hashim. In 1982, the Arab Monetary Fund funded and supervised the launch of Investcorp. Nemir Kirdar was transferred from Chase, where he advised the AMF, to Abu Dhabi to develop the new fund. Omar Aggad was the first investor in this fund. Still in 1982, the AMF inaugurated the Arab Monetary Fund building in Abu Dhabi. In 1988, the AMF initiated civil actions against its former president Jawad Hashim to recover funds he embezzled (estimated $50 million) during his tenure.
