April 18 (film)
''April 18'' is a 1984 Malayalam-language film written and directed by Balachandra Menon, who also features in the lead role. It also stars Shobana, Adoor Bhasi and Bharat Gopy in other pivotal roles.It was the debut Malayalam movie of Shobana as Lead actress. The musical score was composed by A. T. Ummer. Plot Inspector Ravi marries Sobhana after a love affair and they lead a very happy married life. He is also a very strict police officer. Ravi purchases a saree on behalf of his friend who is in jail and hides this from Sobhana on the advice of Gopi Pillai. This leads to suspicion and Sobhana leaving to her home, expecting Ravi to take her back. However things take a turn when Ravi arrests Jimmy, son of Marcose, against his father in law's (Narayana Pillai) wishes. An aggrieved Narayana Pillai files divorce suit despite objections from Sobhana and appoint Thomachan as his legal counsel. Balachandra Menon
Balachandra Menon ( ml, ബാലചന്ദ്ര മേനോൻ) (born 11 January 1954) is an Indian actor, director and script writer. He made a number of films in the 1980s and 1990s. He has directed 40 films and has acted in over 100. He won two National Film Awards including the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance as station master Ismail the 1998 film ''Samaantharangal'', which was also directed by him. He has also worked as a distributor, editor, composer, singer and producer in the Malayalam film industry. Jose Prakash
Jose Prakash (14 April 1925 – 24 March 2012) was an Indian actor and singer who worked in Malayalam cinema. He was a singer turned actor who had appeared in more than 300 films mostly in antagonist roles. He was awarded with the J. C. Daniel Award in 2011, a day before he died aged 86. In a career spanning for around 40 years, he is known for portraying some of the iconic villain characters in the Malayalam film industry. Later, he switched to character roles in the mid 90s. B. Sivasankaran Nair, popularly known as Bichu Thirumala (13 February 1942 – 26 November 2021), was an Indian lyricist and poet. He is known for creating the style of arranging beautiful words in Malayalam film songs. In Malayalam cinema, Bichu Thirumala led the group of lyricists who wrote songs for readymade tunes. K. P. A. C. Sunny (1934–2006) was an Indian actor in Malayalam movies. He acted in more than 400 Malayalam films. He occupied the movie industry for four decades. Adoor Bhavani (1927 – 25 October 2009) was an Indian actress in Malayalam cinema, best known for her appearance in the National Award-winning film ''Chemmeen'' (1965), directed by Ramu Kariat. She had acted in about 450 films, including ''Mudiyanaya Puthran'', ''Thulabharam'', Kallichellamma, and ''Anubhavangal Paalichakal''. Her last film was K. Madhu-directed '' Sethurama Iyer CBI''. Sukumari Amma (6 October 1940 – 26 March 2013) was an Indian actress best known for her works in Malayalam and Tamil films. In a career spanning more than five decades, She has appeared in more than 2500 films predominantly in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, along with few Hindi and one each in Sinhala, French, Bengali, Tulu, English and Kannada films.
