Appusami
Appusami ( ta, அப்புசாமி) stories are a series of Tamil novels and short stories written by Bhagyam Ramasamy. The first story was published in ''Kumudam'' magazine in 1963. The stories have been in print for over four decades and many of them have been made into stage plays and Television shows. A Humour club in Chennai has been named as the "Appusami-Seethapatti Humour Trust" after the protagonists of the series. Bagyam Ramasami Bagyam Ramasami ( ta, பாக்யம் ராமசாமி, also spelled as Bakkiyam Ramasamy) is the pseudonym of Ja. Ra. Sundaresan (1 September 1930 to 8 December 2017). He was born in Jalakandapuram, Salem district. His pen name is a combination of his mother's name (Bhagyam) and his father's (Ramasamy). Jeyaraj
Thomas Jeyaraj Fernando, aka Jeyaraj, Jayaraj, or simply, J., is an illustrator for Tamil periodicals and magazines. He is especially known for his depictions of attractive, young (and frequently buxom) women, which have earned him a fan following among readers of Tamil magazines as well as criticism. Jeyaraj, who is from Tuticorin, has no formal training in art, but nevertheless won prizes in school and college for his sketches. He studied for a bachelor's degree in economics, but when he could not find any employment in his chosen field, he decided to try his luck with illustration. This was in Chennai in the late 1950s. His first assignment in 1958 was for a short story by Ra. Ki. Rangarajan in Kumudam magazine, fetched him Rs. 10. Tamil Language
Tamil (; ' , ) is a Dravidian language natively spoken by the Tamil people of South Asia. Kumudam
''Kumudam'' is a Tamil weekly magazine published in Chennai, India. It was founded in 1948 by S.A.P. Annamalai, and his close friend and confidante P.V. Parthasarathy. Now the magazine is published under the Kumudam Group, which also publishes other Tamil magazines including ''Kumudam Reporter'', ''Kumudam Snehidi'', ''Kumudam Bhakti'', ''Kumudam Jothidam'', ''Kumudam Theeranadhi''. The Kumudam Group started a Telugu spiritual magazine called ''Kumudam Bhakthi Special''. It had a circulation of 620,000 copies in 1986. ''Screen'' was an Indian weekly film magazine published by Indian Express Limited. Established in 1951, it was owned by The Indian Express Group. The magazine was acquired by Star India in 2015 and subsequently ceased publication. The magazine's content focused on India's Hindi film industry, a.k.a. Bollywood, located mainly in Mumbai. It also had an e-magazine version. History ''Screen'' was first published on 26 September 1951 with Manorama Katju as its managing editor. She was succeeded in 1959 by S.S. ''Dinamalar'' is an Indian Tamil daily newspaper. It was founded in 1951 by T. V. Ramasubba Iyer. ''Dinamalar'' has an average circulation of 942,812 (ABC Jan-June 2016) History Dinamalar was founded by T. V. Ramasubbaiyer on 6 September 1951 at Thiruvananthapuram. The operations were moved to Tirunelveli in 1957. Salem District
Salem District is one of the 38 districts of Tamil Nadu state in southern India. The district is now divided into Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Namakkal as individual districts. Salem is the district headquarters and other major towns in the district include Mettur, Thammampatti, Attur, Omalur, Sankagiri and Edappadi. Ananda Vikatan
''Ananda Vikatan'' is a Tamil-language weekly magazine published from Chennai, India. History and profile ''Ananda Vikatan'' was started by Late Pudhoor Vaidyanadhaiyar in February 1926 as a monthly publication. The issue for December 1927 was not published due to financial difficulties. In January 1928 Subramaniam Srinivasan bought the rights from Vaidyanadhaiyer and relaunched the publication from February 1928 in a new format He paid at the rate of ₹25 per alphabet in the Tamil language name (ஆனந்த விகடன்) of the publication to buy the rights.
